So this Thread clearly explains why the Networkglitch is in a whole other class than all the glitches/cheesing that did go on in the vault: http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/85926505/0/0 FYI: At least three persons already got banned Edit:Bungie updates stats on Crotacompletes https://twitter.com/bungie/status/546107092885446656 Inb4 Banhammer EDIT: For all the Naysayers that say Bungie/sony couldn`t possibly distinguish between a random and a deliberate DC. 1.Lets just assume that there is a time-window of 5 seconds around the point where Crota kneels down to dc on purpose and use the glitch. 2.Let`s further assume that on average the ServiceProviers are reachable for 90% of the time (It`s actually more like 98%, but we will be very generous) 3.Since Crota has been “beaten” more than 160.000 times and a Raidteam consists of 6 people we will say: There are at least 1 Million chances to draw a disconnect during 2 hours (an average Raid takes this time). If we take the 10% from above we can say: 100,000 disconnects happened during all successful Crotaraids up to this point. So what is the probability that A DC happens randomly at the exact same time Crota goes down? Calculation: 2*3600/5 = 1440:= potential 5 second-time units of one single player during a successful raid 1,440,000,000= for all players Ergo The probability that a DC happens randomly at the moment where crota goes down for any Player is 100,000/1,440,000,000 = 6,94e -5 And for the special case that this DC concerns the Host: 1,16e -5 For comparison: The Probability of getting a Royal Flush in Poker: 2,57 e-5 Another Hopebubble busted by Math, sorry for that EDIT 2: I will also link to a prominent youtuber (Datto) that has the same opinion as the vocal group of "It`s a cheat not a chesse" on this forum. Since he works closely with bungie you can be sure that in one way or the other Glitchers will soon befall a special "Destiny": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O30249lCy1c&t=4m47s EDIT 3: This is how a big banwave looked in Halo:Reach (2010) courtesy of Bungie
Good evening, We are in the process of applying credit resets to approximately 15,000 users who we have identified as the most egregious Challenge Reset abusers. A one day credit earning ban has also been applied, mostly to ensure that recipients receive an in-game notification of the action taken. As with any such measure, we have taken the time to carefully select our criteria to eliminate false positives. A more comprehensive pass will be occurring in the coming week as our automated Banhammer mechanisms grow accurate enough to satisfy our high bar for burden of proof. If you are thinking about getting an easy 50k credits by using this exploit, I would strongly advise you to reconsider. Thank you, and please direct any discussion of these resets to this thread. Edit 1: a point of clarification. No bans were handed out tonight for a) Playing too much Gruntpocalypse (no such thing!) b) Using the target locator too much (no such thing!) Specifically, we targeted an exploit that allowed players to complete a Challenge 20+ times via intentional network manipulation (i.e., disconnects.) Spot checks have revealed the telltale signature of this behavior on every denier so far, so don't be fooled by the protests of innocence. We aren't. Edit 2: 1) If you have lost your Legendary Helmet or any other downloadable offers, you can re-download them via your Download History. We're not sure this is affecting anyone (we haven't reproduced it internally), but just in case it is, give this a try. 2) We won't be resetting Commendations, as we do not feel that the exploit used affected them. It would not be fair to people who did use the exploit but who wish to retain the record of their playstyle, and we cannot differentiate between the two systematically. Sorry. --- Cheaters, be wary of the Credit Reset!
Source EDIT 4: Cheaters have officially gotten a Carte Blanche from a Studio that is a shadow of its former self Bungie does not kick ass any more. I was a fool and the cheaters have taken over. I will now make a thread to suggest to ban anyone in the future that tries to make a thread about banning someone. Bungie clearly voted for the quick buck. I hope they will live happily ever after with you and your kind. Signing out ;-)

Change the title, you are purposely misleading people who are using a tactic exploit a network glitch. Kneeling is not a network glitch, the disconnect is. People who get Crota to kneel should not get banned.

    • Why should people get banned for quitting the game/disconnecting on purpose? I get disconnected from the servers multiple times when I play and its usually when I am about to finish something.

    • Why can't people see that pushing someone off the edge is not the same as breaking a network connection to lag the game out to freeze a fight mechanic

      • Problem is on xbox no one is messing with any connection. Its set off by the host just going to dashboard or ejecting their disc. No ones turning their router of or unplugging cables. So there is no internet failure nothing to report except a 10 minute crota kill.

        • I'm going to say I didn't read the entire thread, but the core argument is solid. I don't believe banning people is the right way to go. I think that looking at people's raid history, who was fireteam leader, and seeing if they disconnect x amount of time after the Crota encounter starts, then seeing if it happens multiple times over the course of that accounts playing history. Anyone who was part of that raid team has any Crota loot removed from inventory, replaced by some number of radiant shards. The game could be tweaked that those players in the fireteam are guaranteed to have their old items drop after x completions of Crota (after the exploit is fixed obviously). The fireteam leader has all loot removed and gets nothing back with no guarantee of a drop. I think that's fair and sends the right message.

I prefer to complete all aspects of the raid legit, esp Crota (simple to kill) but find it nearly impossible to do with random raid groups. EVERYBODY wants to cheese Crota, skip the Hive Wizard section and cheese the bridge section. Whenever I suggest that, esp for Crota and the bridge section, that it would be faster to do legit, I am met with immediate and emphatic NO's from the other roster members. So what do I do? I cheese. I am not going to spend even MORE time finding a raid group that wants to do everything legit using outside resources due to the lack of in game matchmaking. This was just a poorly designed raid from a technical standpoint, period.

            • Yea they should ban players for not testing and patching there game! They'll fix it just like Templar and atheon. If they ban players who paid for their dlc then they'll have less players to play the next dlc. In other words its not against any agreement and its a really bad business decision .

look ass bag... 1st off if you get banned in this game then clearly you definately manipulated something with the game, file save, or the internet connection with bungie to where you ended up duplicating drops or something... and 2ndly if you where playing halo reach in 2010 you would know no one got banned from the credit exploit shit was reset only way to gottin banned is after the reset you where dumb enough to do the exploit again...3rdly if bungie really cared how crota was being killed they would not of said he was killed over 100,000+ times on the -blam!-ing twitter post ... so your theory is flawed and your just a dumbass

            • Why is everyone so butt hurt about this stuff? The way I see it, in a lot of ways it's sort of like the cheesers are getting free loot for beta testing bungie's game. When bungie's fixes it, they can't cheat anymore.

              • Cheesing is not cheating. Glitching as in using an outside source to do it is. Beware. Bungie does not like cheating. Look back at what happened in halo 2.

It is messing with the connection to change game play, and that IS against PSN terms of service (IDK about Live). So based on that, they could get their PSN account banned. I personally don't care if they do, or if they don't, but I'm not going to mess with it because I don't want to run the risk of loosing my account.

Also, I reckon if the raid segments were more incentified with more rewards, cheesing could be avoided. Even glimmer rewards, shaders, synthesis packs, anything that would help people. The fact that the disconnect keeps Crota pinned down but there's no repercussions means Bungie never found the error. Therefore, we are doing them a service and in the meantime allowing us to skip through a frankly yawnfest of a raid boss. At least Atheon kept everyone on their toes, there's a lot standing around in the new raid, minus the opening segment which seriously could be a game mode all of its own.

                • Why do people insist on telling people how to play their game they paid for. If someone wants to spend hours doing something to "cheese" or find out how to "cheese" on their own or with a friend who really cares. They are playing the game their way. And if a cheese tries to do it legit, help instead of ridiculing them.

                • Haha imagine how many people would get banned, I can't get in a group that doesn't cheese the entire raid. It is a little underhanded, but man, things get exploited all the time. Lack of testing on Bungies end, not our fault.

                • Why should they be banned, its not their fault Bungie has broken raids. If Bungie would for change actually fix the dang problems that people have been asking for for awhile now, maybe players wouldn't cheese so much. Plus players get disconnected all the time from Bungies broken servers for no reason.

                • Yes cheeser deserve a ban, not a permaban, not even a long ban maybe a few days. But mostly Bungie needs to fix its -blam!-ing shit, cheesers wouldn't exist if Bungie's devs spent time finding these glitches. I mean honestly if the players can find them day 1 how the -blam!- can the devs not during the test phases of the raid?
