I understand, but please check out at least parts of the video in order to see my point, we, as gamers, shouldn't take this, if it becomes completely commonplace, the gaming industry is done, everything that we love, would be gone...

Oh, I never said the messge is wrong or that I disagree with it. I agree ( for the most part) its just that this video has been posted so many times its become annoying rather than informative. The gaming industry IS going to face another crash. And only when the industry crashes will the coroporations get the message. No sooner.

1980's. E.T. Is believed to be the final straw on a huge selection of shitty games. Nintendo is credited for saving the gaming industry.

  • Interesting, I've never heard of that. I don't know if you can really say that's a full on crash. The gaming industry was a great deal smaller then. I seriously doubt there'd be a gaming industry crash. If crappy games could cause that it would've happend years ago. I'd say a much more likely scenario in todays saturate market would be a gaming and or console company losing market share as a result of a perceived lack of quality. Gaming is like sliced bread now I'd argue, it's not going anywhere.

Yeah, it was smaller bussiness back then but that doesn't mean it can't crash. It just makes the repercutions less noticeacle and/or important. I agree, games themselves won't go anywhere. I'd argue that whats going to happen is companies like EA and activision sufering the same fate as capcom. People getting tired if cash cows and just not buying the games. AAA titles becoming more and more rare because people lose trust in big companies. Most games devolving in to phone apps, sidescrollers, and indie games rising up. No more consoles, just phone apps, gaming PCs with mostly indie games and AAA titles being scase. And maybe console wannabe's like the Ouya. Thats how I see it happening, anyway. Could be wrong. But this is what I think will happen in about 5 years or so.

  • 100% agree. I think EA has really gone down hill, ever since they flopped warhammer online (which I still think could've been a fantastic F2P, cash-shop game) they just haven't been putting out quality like they used to. I think this sort of thing happens in lots of different industries, really any human institution if you want to be philosophical about it. "X" makes name by working hard and producing a superior product X uses their newfound market share and financial resources to expand and soak up all their serious competition X realizes they no longer need to put out a superior product due to lack of competition, people don't buy their products as much anymore. This opens the door for Y and Z, and the cycle restarts
