If our nature as humans no longer caused war, if I could end war:
> Simulated in real-time battlefields, using real terrain, but digital weaponry. > Each victory/loss in these simulated conflicts would impact on politics and other things. > Nobody dies; war is simulated, a video-game worked on consistently by everyone in some way. > 3rd-world countries get technologies, situations resolved. > Peace ensues, as the outlet for violence is now digital and influential. > Other developments, such as exploring the unexplored, become more higher priority, along with portals, space travel, and abandoning petroleum for more sustainable sources of energy. > Power (rights, etc...) becomes more flexible and manageable, whilst granting people the ability to impact and change, with rules keeping it beneficial to the majority. > Is possible, if we build robots with reasonable thinking and ability, that the machines would do what I just said in greentext.
• That's actually a really interesting concept. However, war still wouldn't end, per se. The hellacious aftermath of war would be removed, as would the ghastly bodycount, but if we still had people fighting these holowars there would still be issues with PTSD and the like. Drone pilots today still come away with mental health issues, even though I'm sure most of them have played COD. And then who would create this simulated medium for war? Programs can be hacked, and what happens if there's server trouble? And what do we do about terrorism? They sure aren't going to fly planes into buildings with a simulation. So just because there's an outlet for 1st world disputes doesn't really do anything for the human inclination toward violence. We'll still need a conventional military for people who refuse to play by the rules, we'll still need a police force, and we'll still need war.

 • War wouldn't fully end, but as you said, all the problems that come with it would end. Yes, issues will still occur, that is not reversible until advanced methods of mental editing become available. A collection of well-known and good game development companies. Any hackers trying to hack would have to be in the simulation, and even then, the programming used would be alien to them at best. Server issues can be resolved by using all that extra space on the internet. Terrorists would probably be inclined to troll the simulated conflicts, lessening the terrorism in the physical world by a very small percent. There will still be advanced safety/security/law enforcement forces set up to prevent anything like a war in the physical world. Any proper, real, conflicts would likely be done with robots, or something that is still 'real war but makes no mess'.

 • I know the OP requested
no human nature shit
but that's foolish. War is by definition an aspect of human nature, which is why it cannot come to an end. Even in your "perfect war" (what does that even mean?) example, war itself does not end, it simply becomes less catastrophic.

 • Exactly. We'll 'de-catastrophize' it to the point of being a mere sport (like football, etc...)! It'd be like the ancient times, with gladiator arenas and whatnot, only revised!
