Xur will take the old one and give you the new one. It will cost 1 shard and 7000 glimmer to do so. I suggest not completing the bounty until DLC drops just in case they give you the new model.

Good idea! It will probably take that long at least to rng 4 rare fusions or have the gunsmith get them anyway.
