Xurs body isn't his own it's inhabited by various worm like creatures who've used it as a host(probably dead before they took it, one of his quotes is his body is decaying something like that.) And the nine or xur I forget which are guided by alignments in the universe which explains why xur only comes on certain days(srs). And xur also comes as a favor/gift for I think the queen or the traveler I forget

2 RepliesNine war minds I'm pretty sure. And theory is xur may be kabr who could have been brought back from the nine, his new form may be a reflection that he used all his light to create the relics. Look at xurs quotes it's not completely far fetched.

That, or during a certain week, whoever is doing nightfall and using a Xur-provided equipment, their equipment will explode simultaneously, killing everyone and sending them back to orbit.

Xur is just some guy in a costume who teamed up with the cryptarch. All those legendaries that come back as coins and motes are actually exotic weapons and armor that the cryptarch quickly stashes before you get a chance to notice. Xur then sells them back to you for the same coins that the cryptarch handed you and they split the profit.
