There should be at least one piece of exotic armor for each faction.

I thought you could get an exotic bond, hood thing from each of them? or was this just some BS I read somewhere, I'm not sure how it's obtained, or if you have to get the faction to a certain level as they don't actually sell it!

Those are useless though... I don't care at all for them. Haha. The only reason why I have one is to level up my factions. I do like the exotic faction armor idea though. I think that would be awesome, except that you can only equip one exotic at a time.
