I've noticed a distinct line that separates many of the things your generation finds funny and entertaining, and the things my generation does.
This seems to be one of those things beyond that line.

Being satirically obnoxious is extremely popular in humor. I personally find this, "Ayy lmao," and MLG parody montages to be hilarious. The comedy "Legally Black," and many other comedic acts such as Arj Barker often employ obnoxious satire to good effect. I hope that made sense.

It does make sense. Thank you for the input. I suppose the trend has been gaining appeal since the days of Ace Ventura movies. Jim Carry was the OG of obnoxious comedy. Didn't appeal to me back then, and it's only getting more annoying as it's gaining popularity these days. I suppose it's what you get out of it. To me, I can't help but equate this trend to those kids who keep poking you in the back of the head until you turn around to punch them in the face. Then they begin screaming for their mom to come save them with a smug look on their face. Not that I'm calling you one of these kids.. just seems to be the general attitude behind the comedy as a whole. Meh, as Jim said.. to each their own.

Edited by Jim the Admin: 11/9/2014 2:49:26 PMBeing satirically obnoxious is like learning ballet ironically to make fun of the fairy boy down the street. It's still obnoxious and nothing was truly accomplished. I have found this current generation to have no love for silence and no appreciation for the finer points of relaxation and quiet. The very phrase "turn down for what" embodies everything this generation holds dear. Being strange and unexpected is not funny. Being loud is not necessary. But to each their own, I guess.

I know plenty of people who enjoy silence and relaxation, as well as daft lunacy in equal measures. I think you're stereotyping based on the rather vocal side of the Internet.

[quote]I know plenty of people who enjoy silence and relaxation, as well as daft lunacy in equal measures. Not just "internet research". Being obnoxious and loud is most definitely a trend in this current generation and the people you claim are a happy medium between the two are no different, they enjoy loud obnoxious humor, that makes them stereotypical of their generation. It's a thing about being a youth, being loud, for some damn reason.
