PART 2: THE FALLEN GOLDEN AGE This theory would also explain their ruthless nature and selflessness. Dregs and sworded Fallen charge forward with no hesitation. Captains kill their underlings at the slightest disobedience. Perhaps their desensitization towards death stems from their gifted immortality. Being the outcasts and disgraced of the Fallen ranks, Dregs charge forward because they no longer fear death, they have nothing to lose aside from physical pain. Likewise, the Fallen grow physically larger and stronger with their doses of Ether, so it stands to reason that the Archons and Kells we see were also Dregs at one point. It's very possible that Ether is not plentiful, and needs to be reserved to Fallen that have proven themselves, as apposed to the Dregs who have not proven that they are worthy of anything other than the bare minimum form of existence. As Fallen show acts of valor or heroism in battle, their Ether supply increases, granting them greater strength and size. Upon death however, they are reborn as lowly dregs once again. It's ironic that, while the Hive are literal beings of death and decay, it is The Fallen who seem to be the dead ones, as they appear to be but shells, kept marching towards their goals indefinitely through the Servitors. Truly the only threat to the Fallen is the death of their Servitors, as they seem incapable of producing new ones, similarly to how humanity seems to be unable of creating new ghosts. It is for this reason that even the mighty Kells are below a Prime Servitor, who is protected and safeguarded by the Archon Priests, beings given by far the most Ether in proportion to other Fallen, so that they may safeguard both the will of and survival of the servitors. Naturally, these leads into the question of how the Servitors were created, and what gives them their supposed ability to restore life into what was once dead. While this branches off into pure conjecture, I believe that this power was gifted or taught to them by none other thanThe Traveler. The Traveler has displayed it's ability to revive the dead with Ghosts, who will resurrect guardians to fight for humanity. It stands to reason that The Fallen in their golden age were able to reverse engineer this technology. Giving further evidence to this idea is the similarities between Fallen technology and the Traveler in design. It's no secret that whether it be data pods, Servitors, or even their vehicles, Fallen architecture appears spherical in nature, as if it was influenced by the travelers design. The popular forum theories suggest that The Fallen are those which The Traveler abandoned, as they now appear to seek it wherever it wanders to. Whether it be Ether having a bright light-filled glow, or it's association with spirituality and inherent light, Ether's association with light is very plain and transparent, lending evidence to the idea that they once used the light we are now gifted by The Traveler, before they eventually turned to the Darkness. My final ideas in this theory of tinfoil hat proportions ends with how Fallen society ended in the first place. Abiding by the other theories presented, it would stand to reason that The Fallen were decimated by the departure of The Traveler, and society simply fell into disarray. However, there is another, and more intimidating thought process to be considered. Perhaps Fallen society did not crumble as we had assumed. Perhaps it merely expanded, seeking the traveler wherever it journeyed out to. Saint-14's theory on the nature of The Darkness states that it was not a sentient being, but instead force(s) of incredible, yet tangible power. Perhaps the collapse was a war, a colossal war, but a tangible one, between the Fallen's empire and an unknown external force. It's possible that they may have fought the Cabal, the Hive, or perhaps some other race that is unknown to us. While their theoretical foe remains illusive, the results do not. My theory goes that this massive armada of invading Fallen, was bested at the hands of either The Traveler, or some unknown foe. The fleet was left cut off from access to the main empire, potentially thousands of lightyears away from even the slightest extent of reinforcements. With no home to return to, the survivors of the fleet collapsed into the Houses we know today. While their Servitors grant them eternal life, it came at a great cost. Their civilization and order as they knew it were gone, the fleet left to shamble around the solar system aimlessly, helpless at the hands of whatever had bested them. The fear lies in what The Fallen have been trying to do since then. Be it the House of Winter or mysterious House of Kings, The Fallen seem to be fixated with both communications and interstellar travel. While the House of Devils cling to the rocket yards of old Russia, the Kings seek to commandeer the lost arrays of the Cosmodrome. It's very possible that they are trying to once again make contact with their empire, no doubt to announce their survival and demand reinforcements to come harboring their salvation. Does this main empire still exist? Is it possible for The Fallen to contact it once again? Regardless of the answers, it's in the best interests of humanity to ensure that this communication never gets established. My next major post will be discussing mainly allusions to Greek society, and the function of Archons in Fallen leadership. However, I will happily reply to critiques and questions.

 • Our apocalypse is called "the collapse" because all life literally just collapsed where it was at that time. The Fallens was called "the whirlwind." I like where this theory is going (and it's what? 5 dlcs and 2 games later lol) but we still know little about the whirlwind. That's the only "hole" I see in your hypothesis so far, incorrect terminology. My point? The Collapse was def NOT a war between Fallen and darkness. Like 100% for sure. :)

 • Fallen are not corpses. Corpses do not feel pain. Also, in a new grimoire card, variks accidentally cuts himself and bleeds. Corpses don't bleed. Also, in the same grimoire card, it says that varik's arms are starting to weaken in his old age. All of the above prove that fallen aren't lifeless corpses.

 • Indeed, the thread does need some renovation due to HoW. While the Fallen due seem to be decrepit and sustained by ether, the grimoire does imply that they're bodily functions are still intact to some extent, though it may just mean Variks has yet to die.

 • Yes. Theu dont all have to be dead for this to work, and dont confuse "reanimated corpse" with zombie. Even so, zombies can move, eat and bleed.. Please dont let one single zombie movie convince you that any reanimated corpse from any work of fiction will have to abide by that movies rules!!!! Jesus, the first zombie, was 100% functional when reanimated. He could probably still even spread some seed and have kids. IJS

 • I know. And remorseless beings that can be revived by a floating AI is very new especially with a large mother-being that bore them.

 • Question. I remember from Gameinformer's article about destiny they mentioned the enemy types of destiny. The description for the dregs reads: ' the fallen dregs are the lowest rung of society, so reviled that they've had two of their arms removed.' This means that fallen are born, or created, with 4 arms. Discussing the servitor soul revive theory, it does not seem probable that the servitors would revive the fallen only to cut two of their arms off. They have not failed themselves yet, and do not deserve to have their arms cut off. So why would the servitor revive them only to have their arms cut off?

 • They aren't reanimated whole every time. Once a Vandal gets demoted and loses those arms each rez after is probably a rez with only 2 arms. Yes that's it. Terminology man, pay attention to it!!! Resurrection is what happens. Term!!! You are thinking a rebirth, where they die and are recreated as the were at first. A baby?

 • I suspect Dregs dock their lower arms in order to utilize less ether. In order to grow in size and regain their arms, they must prove their effectiveness to the houses they belong to.

 • I'd assume they cut off their lower arms to conserve ether. They're given the bare minimum supply of ether until they prove themselves competent and worthy of more power.

 • Dude, you may just be right. Think about it. The new DLC raid will focus on the Fallen, but what's so threatening about them? The Hive have their world shattering gods and sorcery. The vex have their time travel. But what's so threatening about the fallen as they are now? Not much. But if they were to suddenly make contact with their massive, ultra-powerful empire, then that would create an immediate, highly hazardous threat. One nearly as dangerous as if the Cabal decided to give a flying -blam!- about killing us. Or the Hive deciding to make their move with Crota's army. Or the vex trying to wipe us from history. This would be cause enough for more than a three man strike.

 • Could the traveler be the reason why Fallen have servitors? Yes. Could the Fallen lose their power because the traveler left? No. I say this as perhaps the reason the houses had split was because of a revolution among the lower classes of Fallen. Which would then cause Fallen to divide themselves in houses. With each one having their own reason for existing. House of Devils: Showing humanity that the cosmodrome is theirs and will take whatever they want, when they want. House of Winter: Wishes to understand the technology at the Ishtar sink and to perhaps eliminate the Vex. House of Exile:Banded together from fallen that don't believe in the rules of their houses. Also, perhaps wolves that escaped the queen. House of Kings: Don't care about anything other than ensuring Rasputin's files are theirs. Since the Hive want Rasputin too, they could be a real enemy towards the Kings. House of Wolves:Broken and divided.... One part wants to return to it's glory. Other wants to persuade the queen that they are on her side, then release all prisoners and reunite on the Moon.

 • Perhaps the Traveler found the fallen first and gave them there technology, but after awhile they realized it was evil and turned against it. Then the traveler moved to earth, and saved the humans and created ghosts to train new guardians and bring them back from the dead to Fight the fallen mindlessly to keep us from finding out what the traveler is actually evil and i bet if you take away the mask of the speaker, he is a human who the "light" has completely consumed making him the travelers pawn

 • take moment to look at your ghost when you die. it splits up. the ghost is just a little sphere with triangly bits attached to it. you know what it would look like if you took off the triangly bits? a servitor. both ghosts and servitors give life, but servitos are much bigger. ghosts can only revive you, but servitors can revive en masse.

 • absolutely luscious! yes i see the fallen as a 'fallen' civilization, beaten and the remnants that survived turned pirate. if it was the traveller that decimated them, or abandoned them as a distraction or appeasement, then it all fits with binary/trinary star grimoire. do not forget to reach back before the trih xeem skyshock event in whichever it was ghost fragment that talks about it and also do not forget that the yex ethos is a multi-unit mind or functions in a fractal way, possessing multiple bodies/incarnations throughout time and space that can either act separately or as a single entity, and would be identical on any given scale. "so the fallen have tried for centuries to do this thing and now we just did it for them, and then left it that way....-blam!-" - a very high friend.

 • While I have not read up too extensively on the Binary/Trinary Star theory, it certainly matches up with theories I have involving The Traveler. I have however read up a lot pre and post-launch about Rasputin and the Skyshock event. It's quite possible that this apocalyptic anomaly detected by our warminds was in fact the arrival of an enormous Fallen fleet, prior to their defeat. Perhaps the Skyshock event was essentially a skirmish of biblical proportions, as the Fallen armada attempted to blitzkrieg our entire solar system. While signs of conflict are clear, we don't however know what they were fighting. Was it the Cabal or one of the other known factions? Was it humanity itself during it's golden age? Or was it a now unknown entity? Whatever the case, an interstellar blitzkrieg must have been cool to watch, if it wasn't for everyone dying.

 • Sry. No the fallen did not arrive first they arrived in the order 1 vex 2 hive.3cabal 4fallen. This is because. The vex structures were studied in the golden age. The hive did massive stuff to the moon wich couldn't of been done at war. The cabal landed early enough to create a beachhead on mars but the fallen, being decimated, came last.

 • Vex didnt ever "arrive" here, they were brought here by the traveler's terraforming tech. It doesnt actually change a planet to make it habitable, it finds another reality where that planet is habitable and blends the realities together. That's why vex ARENT currently on Venus in the games timeline but after the traveler leaves they have been there for billions of years already.
