Preface:
This is not intended to sway people into buying or not buying the DLC, but rather diffuse the ignorant argument that the Destiny DLCs will cost you a lump sum and reiterate how affordable the DLCs actually are. This is applicable to ALL games that plan on releasing multiple DLCs over the course of several years.
True Cost:
Lets break things down a bit, shall we? I am going to make several assumptions first. These are as follows:
1) All future DLCs will run $20
2) Bungie will release 2 DLCs per year
3) The life cycle of these DLC releases will be 10 years
Take your DLC cost, multiply it by the number of DLCs per year, and then divide it by the number of months in a year. Should look like this:
[($20)*(2)]/12 = $3.33/month
This is the monthly amount you would need to save to afford the two DLCs that year.
That is all. Anyone trying to make the argument that the DLCs are too expensive (notwithstanding content, I am not arguing that point here) isn't really looking at the big picture.
