Hello everyone, I have been playing Destiny pretty much everyday since launch now (as I assume most of you have) and feel like I can finally offer my opinion on this game. I have three level 29s, one of each class. Aside from completing the hard version of the raid, camping at a loot cave, and acquiring and completely upgrading every gun in the entire game...I feel I have experienced pretty much everything Destiny has to offer. Destiny is a good game with the potential to be one of the best games ever made, and I'm not trying to be hyperbolic when I say that. It has extremely solid gameplay and interesting lore that could pave the way for a wealth of future content. After reading the news about the Atheon fight change (which I sincerely hope does not go into effect, but I digress) I read through quite a few comments and threads discussing the fix in order to try to understand both sides of the issue. In doing so, it became clear that the people on each side had drastically different experiences and expectations from the game. The side that favored the fix, or at least didn't mind it, seemed to always have a dedicated group of players to play with and the other side usually didn't. As many of us know, Destiny endgame consists of a random story mission to be repeated daily, two weekly strikes, and two versions of the raid. Oh, I suppose grinding marks also counts as well. I'm not sure if I am in the minority here but I don't have a large enough group of friends that I can always find enough people on that haven't already completed the activity that week to form a group for raiding or weeklies. I am always forced to decide between trying to find a random group manually from desinylfg(.com/.net) or just soloing whatever content I can. I have soloed all but one of the weeklies I've completed and sometimes I just don't do the raid because of the hassle of trying to find a group. Honestly, on some nights it takes longer to put a group together than actually complete the raid. And it's a real shame too because I typically have a blast when I am actually doing it. Here you may ask, "Hey Victus, why are you such an antisocial weirdo?" or say "Make some friends and/or join a clan already! RNGeez, can you believe that guy." and I suppose that in some ways you would be right. That could be a solution to the problem I'm having but I suppose it's not a solution I want. I don't want to join a clan just to try to find a group using yet another lfg post and search site, or get invited to raids by tons of people on my friend's list when I'm watching Netflix or have already completed my runs for the week. I want matchmaking, for all content in Destiny. I want access to a pool of players (hopefully near my character level, and even more hopefully, near my skill level) that want to do the same thing I want to do when I want to do it. I genuinely don't understand the hesitation to implement this as a feature for all content, other than just to make it exponentially harder for PuGs to find groups. I would be shocked if the majority of people who completed the VoG, or even the weeklies for that matter, haven't at least used these forums or an lfg site once since launch in order to find more players. And if you have to manually invite random people, often from a third party site no less, to your party or as a friend in order to play with them then it's still a PuG. It's just one that you had to jump through too many hoops to find. This is made even worse by the fact that Destiny intentionally makes it difficult to make friends in-game, where you would want to find them the most. This is done by blocking, or at the least impeding, communication between players. I understand Bungie wanted to minimize toxicity in their game, which is commendable, but I believe silencing players is/was the wrong way to achieve that goal. I also hope that voice chat for PuG fireteams can at the least be opted into in the future to address this but I once again digress. Anyway thanks for reading, however much you may have read, I know it was long! Please vote and let me know how you feel about matchmaking! This was just one area in which I feel Destiny can be improved but there are of course others as well. I genuinely want Destiny to realize it's potential and be a game I play for years to come.

I haven't played Vog yet but I'd like to. I don't have the time to round up a team because of my work schedule or enough friends dedicated to completing it too attempt it. I don't think my characters leveled enough yet any how but when it is I would like to join a fire team. What if instead of matchmaking they had a lobby like the tower just for raids. Then people who are online at the same time looking for a raid team like me could join up this way.

  • End game match making is a terrible idea I thought like you till I made some random friends and went and played the raid and after that first raid I understood why match making won't work. You are not stuck at 26 because you can't get a random raid group actually you aren't ready for the raid you need to go out and grind the rest of the game for better gear and to fine tune your play style. If you are so keen to do the vog go there and try to hold a pad from a pretorian alone just one because that's the easy part and if you can't you are just not ready

  • Anybody have any points that they would like to add to argue against adding matchmaking? I genuinely would like to hear the reasons people have for holding the opposite view point, maybe they'll change mine.

    • i'd be pretty surprised if they're not working on this already tbh . they check all sorts of stats in this so they've got to know it's needed . i doubt even 1 in 500 people of the right level ever do the group stuff . i know i wont bother even trying if i cant just click and play . i bet there's a hell of alot more who'll do the exact same thing .and just imagine how hard it's going to be to find people in even two months . the game will be worthless by next year if they leave it it like this .

      • I don't know but i know that i bought a ps4 and 2 of my friends got one the rest just don't care about vidya games..abd these 2 guys bought destiny and are already done with it...the disconnects and...most of what happens in the game besides grafics or the gameplay...they played 2 weeks and now they are playing shadows of mordor minececrafr or the evil within because if you are not a freak you see that they give a shit about us and -blam!-ed everything up they could....me too bought minecraft today just to have some fun..because "disconnecty" doesn't really deliver...as you see im stuck at 26 because no friends with ps4 = no raid for me.. I got better things to do then invite random strangers all day or try to figure some shit with my router out because bungie means it is our fault even if everything else works fine... don't know but i feel like this is absolutely not what they promised us...
