STOP racing through the Strikes if you actually want Legendary Rewards

It's getting to be a common thing now during the Lvl 24 Strikes that I see these kids race as fast as they can through the Strike usually hopping on their speeder bypassing the first several mobs of lower level enemies which is fine but then they continue on and bypass as many of the Lvl 24 enemies as they can just to get to the final boss quicker. Why? The boss gives you nothing and your chances of getting anything worthwhile from the end game roll are poor odds for the amount of time it takes to complete each Strike. Your best shot of getting a Legendary Engram drop or at least multiple blue Engrams to give you a chance at Legendary gear and to rank up the Cryptarch is to kill every Lvl 24 enemy up to the boss because that is where all of my Legendary Engrams have come from and I get at least half of my blue Engrams from Mob drops to go along with what I get in the end game roll. The Lvl 24 Tiger Strikes since the last patch appear to have a higher drop rate than the normal game modes at least in the areas you're facing Lvl 24 enemies, and so bypassing them to finish the Strike faster is just decreasing your chance of getting multiple drops. There's little other reason to be grinding Lvl 24 Strikes in that manner because you can earn Vanguard rep faster farming Patrols, Vanguard Marks faster farming Public Events, and if you need a bunch of Strikes for a Bounty run the Lvl 8 Devil's Lair on Earth and get them done quick. So don't be that guy that runs way out ahead of everyone else. Don't waste you and your teammates chances for more Legendary/Exotic drops. It doesn't take but an extra 5 minutes or so to clear out all the Lvl 24 enemies your bypassing between you and the Boss when you do it as a group.

  • Day 1 guardian here. I used to kill everything in sight and the topic guy is right you do have better chances if you kill everything... it just takes soo long and then you have that 1 player who kills nothing but gets all the goodies at the end. Screw that and screw that guardian. Why should I shoot everything just for someone else to reap the rewards for my hard labor. You better catch up and you better do it fast because I'm on my way to the boss to kick him in the nuts and make him cough up yellow, purple, and yes blue balls so I can get to the cryptarch' s stingy ass and watch him screw me over for a 2nd year.

  • At first I was that guy who had to kill everything on every strike, if I didn't I felt like the mission was incomplete. Now, I am one of those "Kids", who runs straight to the boss. I would rather be guaranteed two Blues after killing the boss in 10 minutes opposed to "Hoping" for a couple additional drops in 25-30 minutes. By the way I'm not a kid, I'm 35, and it's not racing, it's efficient, and time management.

    • I speed run strikes. Why? Cause after doing the same five strikes over 200 times they get boring as hell. I don't care about the adds I don't have to kill to complete the mission. Do u kill every add and finish the whole mission when u get the bounty to kill the first Hive Knight in the mission? Cause I sure as hell don't. It's a waste of time for those who don't care about the small, small, small possibility of getting a legendary engram. I mostly just run strikes to get reputation. So killing everything takes a half hour and speeding takes fifteen min (estimate, not exact, depends on group). I'll take that double rep over extra kills any day. But to each his own. If u wanna kill everything, fine. I'll be waiting for you at the boss already putting damage on him.

      • If I am in a strike I am either: Doing a bounty, or Farming vanguard marks Both of these benefit me more the quicker I do them. I'm certainly not looking for legendary drops. I'd also like to add that every enemy in this game has the exact same chance to drop engrams. If I wanted legendary drops there are far more efficient places to kill enemies quickly i.e. We've woken the hive

      • You go ahead and kill the adds for me, I'll pick up my blues from the postmaster later. Meanwhile the boss is half way down and you're still not here.

      • Both methods are justified in they're own rights but I personally like to land at the tower & know I've just added 2-300 more kills closer to 35k enemies who have been ripped a new one & that I call " killing a flock of birds with one crazy ass stone shooter "

      • For the 1000th time, unless you are gonna send me the $95 I have currently spent on this game, please stop trying to tell me how to play. You have every right to kill every single enemy you want, just as I have every right to zoom right past them. Seriously when will you "stop doing this" people get it?

        • I average 5 exotics a week and tons of legendary engram's and i constantly race through strikes. Do you have some fact based statistics to back your claim?

          • I will admit, I do skip the low level mobs while traveling, but any enemy pertaining to the strike I make sure to kill.

          • They're probably the same idiots who boosted loot cave thinking it gave them a greater chance at good drops just becuase it gave them a greater quantity of drops. That's not how it works. The worst are the assholes who rush to the darkness zones and kill themselves, which kills everyone in the game and re-spawns them in that area, because not only are they morons who think rushing is a good idea, but they want to force everyone else in the game to rush ahead as well.

          • I have to agree with the op. I understand skipping the low level trash mobs in the public areas. I do that all the time. But skipping the mobs in the instanced area is stupid. It doesn't add but maybe 5 minutes total to the run. It nets me at least 2-3 blue engrams per run. Which in turn levels the cryptarch much faster. I've received more legendaries from the cryptarch packages than I have from the end of mission rewards. With marks capped weekly you may as well spend that extra 4-5 minutes per run.

          • Totally agree sometimes I enjoy getting through a strike quick but 95% of the time I wanna play the whole thing like it was actually meant to be played, at the very least your getting small chunks of exp from every enemy you kill which helps level up your gear a bit faster

          • Agreed. It depends on how the rest of the team is playing. I hate getting stick trying to wipe up all the mobs myself. But those engrams tho.

          • Depends on the strike, if i run Nexus i kill basically everything cause it's still quick. If i run Cerberus Vae that entire first room is a waste of time

            • Wrong, you send one person on drop duty and the other two race to the end and complete the strike. There are certain strikes like the nexus where you should kill that line of vex right before the boss, but honestly you get way more from the end of the strike then trying to kill everything.

I guess I can understand rushing through it to the end. But for me I like the thrill of the kill. Seeing if I can beat my own records and what not. But that's just me and I think before everything, everyone should ask each other if it's ok to rush through it or not because I find it a little more than annoying when 2 of us are killing everything while the other guy is already fighting the boss without us.

            • I'd rather have people that race through and skip stuff over sitting outside and farming whatever the planet material is, or even just idling.
