He's not bad, but I've heard a lot better.
-
If you go back and listen to how Dinlebot sounded in the original reveal gameplay/accompanying trailer, you'll find that he sounded radically different. Not to mention that there are cutscenes shown with much greater production value and voice acting skills that were ultimately cut from the final product.

1 ReplyHe does sound bored at times maybe he just doesn't see himself doing that sort of acting? But i also think the dialogue that was written for him is the worst offender. The dialogue writer needs to be fired like now.

3 RepliesWhy you no acting like this

Edited by Vehks: 10/4/2014 7:42:05 PMI think he's a pretty good actor in movies and what not,but I think what it is ,for Destiny, he's going for what an A.I. construct would sound like. I think his line delivery is intentional and lets not rule out the possibility that he was following Bungies instructions on how to deliver his lines.

Dinklage is a tremendous actor , it's the script that sucks balls Just to put it in perspective , look at his performance in Game of Thrones , especialy in a certain trial...That s perfect acting right there The argument of the lifeless robot doesnt excuse the poor script , compare it to GladOs from Portal or Cortana from Halo , hell even the robot dog from MGS Risint had more emotions that where conveyed trough the script...
-
I don't get the kinda half emotion out into the lines. Like sometimes he is an emotionless robot and sometimes he be like "you've woken the hive"
-
Oh yeah he's pretty bad. Everyone is just like "He's a robot! He isn't supposed to have emotions!" Well that would be fine if he didn't have any emotion. He just sounds bored most of the time, or he sounds like he is having issues reading a bed time story. The writing is atrocious, but that doesn't excuse poor voice acting.

Edited by Retro_Spective: 10/4/2014 7:55:13 PMlol at all the dinky fanboys here... Yes he is a terrible voice actor... I bet Schwarzenegger would have nailed it ;) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zFxaCa-hr8o

not hugely impressed but lets see how he does at the eagle in angry birds, then i can form an opinion based on multiple roles maybe the direction is the problem, im an actor an done a bunch of low budget horrors & British films, main roles, not much to go on if the director said. Youre a robot with no emotion
-
I thought he played a good digital voice, remember his playing a mechanical being without emotion. I think he did that pretty well
-
No. Just very bad direction and horrendous rewrites on Bungie's part.
-
Not at all, the script was non existent and it is the only voice really in the game ... So people associate him with Destiny and the lack of story.
-
Nah, just a bad run of luck. Poor script and little direction. The rest of the cast have done extensive voice acting so could just go with it but with Dinklage, he's not done enough to reach that level.
-
1 ReplyMaybe not. You could tell he was at least ember as sedans.
-
4 RepliesEdited by Fox: 10/4/2014 7:17:32 PMI don't think it is entirely his fault. He's just the most visible target of criticism because he's always with you. All of the voice actors were fed an absolutely terrible script and even good actors can only take it so far before you must admit its limitations. The script needed serious help and it didn't get that unfortunately. It was more so the writer's or writing team's fault than any individual voice actor.

What I think happened is Peter may possibly have been involved in the development enough to have seen the nefarious activities activision partook in which resulted in the man who has dreamed about and worked towards this game having to abandon it all. He may have the integrity to have completely shitted on his roll in the game purposefully as a statement that he will not be a willing agent of the publishers freed. I find his voice acting to be a satire of the shoddy story forced out by Activision to appeal to alcoholic console players.
-
It's not great but one gets used to it. Compared to the average video game it's decent though.
-
Thought it was alright. What were you expecting.......James Earl jones?!
-
Yes bring in TROY BAKER, THE JOHNNY YONG BOSCH OF VIDEO GAMES.
-
1 ReplyVoice acting was probably great Originally! Then Activision came along.. called in voice actors to redo thier work to give very little story explanation.
-
2 RepliesI keep telling my friends that his "bad" voice acting was intentional and that he was going for a kinda mono-toned and robotic voice, kinda like Microsoft Sam.
-
He did okay. should have got peter CULLEN! I AM OPTIMUS GHOST.
