Lets come up with some productive discussion on how to counter act the shotguns & fusion rifles on crucible, rather then just shouting nerf ! They both can be countered, the fusion rifle is one I personally find a little more difficult because of its effectiveness at mid & short range.
Are there any little tricks you use ?

3 RepliesIt's quite simple. Take the fight to a wide open area. If you try to take on a shotgun in CQB without another shotgun, you pretty much deserve to die.
-
3 RepliesFusion rifle you just have to strafe. That's it. It's next to impossible to land all the needed shots if you are on the move.
-
3 RepliesBait them in and swiftly Autorifle their heads. If that isn't enough, grab your own fusion rifle/shotgun and go for some 1 clip sprees. Aggression is my ace in the hole.

1 ReplyTo counter a fusion rifle: DO NOT JUMP UP. Let me say it again. STAY ON THE GROUND. MOVE SIDE TO SIDE! All fusion rifles have a directly upwards recoil. Meaning jumping up will put you in that line of fire. Move to your left when shot at, find cover. To counter shotguns: Honestly, most shots are OHK's. :/ But the ones that dont get you right away, you can survive. React QUICKLY after the first hit and JUMP BACK. Nothing is more frustrating to a shotgun user than being out of range while you lay into him with an auto rifle. Also, after a shotgun hit that doesnt kill you, 99% chance they are going to try to palm your face. So all you can do is jump directly backwards at any cost. You might survive the enemy waiting behind you, but you will not survive that shotgun. Hope this helped someone.

Throw a nade around the corner, when they run shoot them in the back.

1 ReplyMy shotgun is automatic. You can't counter it. Also new void dmg auto rifle (vault of glass) is maxed on rate of fire as well as stability. Join us

The counter is skill. If you see them and hear the charge of the fusion coils walk around the corner shooting. Walk around the corner and jump BEFORE he shoots. Throw a grenade around the corner and then kill him. The best move is a sideways blink right before the shot goes off. Shotgun is the same except you can't hear it charging. Pay attention to what your opponents are using. Or if they're tricky like me they don't pull out their best weapons until halfway through the match and then you get surprises until the end. Being mentally prepared is just as important as having a quick trigger finger. And the best advice and the way I kill people before they can kill me. Shoot them in the head. It still does critical damage.

2 RepliesAs a Titan I recently found the Juggernaut perk pretty effective at negating Shotgun punchers when I play run n gun style. Also staying out of tight spaces and corners to force them into longer ranged engagements, as this gives you the advantage. Keeping an eye on radar and trying to lure them out, then killing from beyond close range. For fusion rifles, strafe/hop side to side. The burst nature of the rifle works great on a still target or one moving forward/backward in a straight line, but perpendicular movement (to the shooter's line of sight) causes the burst to disperse in a sideways line, decreasing it's effectiveness at 1 hit KOs.

I use a heavy pistol in most of my matches with a 13 round clip so I don't have to reload to frequently. I also play mostly as a warlock and for me that is key because you can essentially hover in the air at a pretty good height. For Fusion rifle, I take advantage of its charge time and use corners. Peek out once to spot the target try and coax him into firing once and then pop him shortly after his first shot that will generally drop his shields and he is one head shot away. generally the speed of my pistol is faster than the charge of his fusion rifle at this point. My pistol almost always wins out. The Shotgun is a bit more tricky. I generally either use a shotgun myself or kite the target with my heavy pistol. On maps with high ceilings when the shotgun user rushes in to take me out I jump as high as I can and hover usually I can get at least 2 shots off before I get back in his range. The other method is just to be reallly reallly fast and accurate with a shot and melee combo. This requires a bit of finese to pull of and only works about half the time. A quick shot to the head at mid to short range before the shotgun is lethal and an almost simultaneous melee. It should almost feel like pulling the trigger and bumper at the same time. I will work on doing some recordings this week to demonstrate what I mean.

1 ReplyFor fusion rifle: Throw a grenade, duck behind cover, come out the other side and finish them off with a few shots before they can react. For Shotgun: Either stay at a distance or use a shotgun against them.

1 ReplyBlink behind them, and promptly shotgun kill the enemy B-)

I find the auto rifle to be powerful enough that I can kill then before they get within reach usually. If I'm using a different primary I just don't take blind corners unless I also have a shotgun haha

1 ReplyEasy: Always keep distance. That's... literally the problem with people. They don't understand that shotguns are close quarters. You wouldn't hug a bear, would you? No? Don't hug a shotgun user then. As for Fusions, strafing helps a lot. If people played Destiny more like Halo than Call of Duty, then the game will be more pleasant.

Range. Keep your distance and use your sights for head shots. Too many people try to get in close to hip fire. This doesn't work.

The trick to Fusion Rifles is at any range but Shotgun range (Point Blank) the Fusion Gunner has to lead the target a good deal due to the very slow bullet velocity of Fusions. So if you serpentine or swap between left and right strafing they will almost -never- get enough Rails to OHK you. And once they have to use a second blast if they aren't dead it is your own mistakes that did it.

1 ReplyEasy way to counter shotguns: Use your radar and ADS with an auto rifle. Same can be said for Fusion Rifles, but those have almost double the 1HK range of a shotty, so it's harder to avoid.

1 ReplyTitan smash seems to do the trick.
