Metacritic says its 77. That's not negative, its relatively positive. Reviewers have generally shifted over the last few years to using proper scales and not starting at 6/10 or 7/10. Its getting a lot of blasting over issues, much of which is well deserved. Its almost always boiled down to the core gameplay being fun, but the MMO systems, and the story presentation being poor to bad. The Grimoire particularly being one of the poorest methods of presenting a story/lore I've ever seen, pushing it out of the game entirely into an external website with terrible navigation methods. I assume its to promote the cellphone app, but even by those standards its bad. A lot of them do take excessive time to rake the story up, which seems to be an ongoing trend with any game. Game critics have taken up dissecting characters and narratives to fill a review, because thats easier to espouse on then a subjectivie statement of the gameplays fun. A great many also review Destiny as a single player story based campaign to be worked through, rather then something to hop on and shoot up aliens/other players for an hour or three with your buddy.
