Just wondering if there are people out there that realize that what we've played so far.. that 20+ hours you've put into this game so far is only the beginning? That the reason the "story" is lacking is because there really isn't one right now on purpose? That all we've seen so far is a brief introduction into the massive world Bungie is opening us up to (and a damn good introduction at that)? This isn't Assassin's Creed where you play it for 4 days, get through the story and be done with it. I honestly think we've only experienced a tenth of what Bungie has in store for us. Being an intelligent consumer you have to know what you're in for, the $90 I spent on this game is not for a 16 hour story and some silly side quests. It's an investment in a franchise from a company which brought us the likes of HALO. Let's have some sense comrades. I look at a lot, not all, but a lot of these complaints and when you break them down people are, in essence, complaining that they haven't played and seen everything the game has to offer yet. Bungie, over the next days, months, years, will be giving us more to play, see and do. Did you people play WoW or Skyrim for a couple days and then cry? No, because you realized that those games, like this one, are far from over after intro.
I also realize that some folks are never happy. If Bungie had introduced to us from the very beginning, 4389142 gun types, 4378 enemy types, 76 different planets and such, there would be those that after racing through all of it in a week would still be unhappy. These are the people I pray for at night.
I'm saying all this to basically say we need to give Bungie time to reveal to us what they have up their VERY LARGE sleeves. Stop whining about paying for expansions when I bet most of you bought all the Halo DLC when it was nothing but, if my memory serves me right, multiplayer map packs.... nothing to evolve the story like it is in this case... but different maps to shoot each other on... C'mon son...
Let's give an ENORMOUS game like Destiny more than a week to prove itself.. I mean hey, you beat CoD in 10 hours and then shoot each other on the same maps for half a year before complaining.

well said dude!
-
cant agree more, playing it last night and i was talking to my mate who just completed the story and moans that there is nothing else to do
-
Exactly, well put. I think they could have been a bit smarter by advertising that this is in fact just the beginning
-
Agreed. Well said.
-
Preach it brother.
-
I thought it was over, I was under the impression that the game would be available for 2 weeks.
-
20+ hours... I have 68 hours with my hunter and warlock... If my vacation didn't end a few days ago it would probably 80+ hours by now.. I swear I love this game. People complain about the lack of story and repetitive missions and how it's just a big grind, but I love it so far.
-
Really interesting to read. The forums right now seem to be flooded with the whining about the game being too short, the story being too bad, the loot being too hard to get. I just can't stand it. I'm hoping this flow of posts will settle down after a month or two into the game.

Did anyone also notice that when you go into the reef destination, there's a rotating circular area(same as planets) that's missing a location in the middle. Betcha a million glimmer that's reserved for the house of wolves DLC.

this is the best

#1 reason people are hating on Destiny's story is that it requires you to think and form your on theories vs a bunch of macho men running around swearing a blowing shit up for 10+ hours.
-
Im glad im not alone in this reasonng. I see for every 1 person that hates destiny there are 5 that love it. My friends list shows this as well. Since tuesday last week ive had 30 friends who have been playing daily and only 5 have gone back to minecraft. Everyone else ive talked to says they love it.

Honestly, I liked the story.....so much mystery still surrounds the background of, well, everything. To me, I think that is awesome. It gives us time to come up with our own predictions on what happened and then when we finally do find out the back story our minds are going to be blown. Give it time and the people who stick with it are going to have the last laugh while those who traded it in are re-purchasing it.
-
All these people complaining but even at its current state it offers more content than any Call of Duty game to date .
-
I agree. I get the feeling this is only the beginning, and we have a lot more to look forward to. I have 40+ hours in and haven't even started a Hunter or Titan. I just got my first legendary last night and can't wait to find more. I keep thinking this is the start of something amazing. The revival of the traveler is only just starting. Can't wait to see what's next.

Like somebody at IGN said. "Destiny is a victim of its own Hypetrain" The 6 they score average, and the 75% score is WAY to less.. But understandeble. If it was less hyped, And if Activision was a little less enthusiastic with promoting, and marketing. This game would have scored MUCH higher. And also for me, Destiny is going in the forget hole, specially with Forza Horizon, and Dragon Age coming up, while i truly love the game. So its a shame.. Its just that, Bungie and Activision promised Platinum, but instead, they are giving us Gold. Still awesome, but its not as good as they let us believe. Specially the PVP part, it looks like all skills they had in making Multiplayer games are moved to 343. Halo 2 MP was legendairy, Halo 3 did a good job, Halo 4 and Reach ware very good. I dont understand why the Crusible is so.... emtpy... i want more maps, i want bigger maps, i want capture the hill, hell i want a Forge mode, i want CTF. I want a fully dressed, and upgraded Multiplayer. So there is someting to do if im done PVE'ing for a while. Now i do agree with you, i think Bungie is far form ready with Destiny, there will be new area, planets, and other stuff.
Also in the final cutscene of the story they basicly tell you there is a lot more fighting coming up,. There for i believe that also the story is far form over. Even though i kinda tend to dislike the story.. It was to much of the same.
I will give them time, Destiny will go on standby since there are so much other games coming up. But i will keep my eye on them, and i prolly will buy all pieces of DLC that are coming up.

One last bump, so we have something to discuss when I wake up in the morning. I truly enjoyed discussing Destiny with you folks. Have goodnight.

-
Ya. We got at least one month until it gets truly boring.
-
when I got to the end, when that strange hunter-woman-cyborg gave me the rifle, I was so sure that there are gonna be continue right now. I was so impressed by the music there!!! well I do agree with you. But I whant more and now, but I cant get it... I think they could do more story content for the begining....
-
I agree with you fully and im enjoying every aspect of the game. Even if the story wasnt so good to me but i still love the game n cant wait to see more of it in the future
-
but with their 10 year plan for the destiny franchise , how many people do you think will have that patience. i think the community will come and go with the dlc's
-
bumping this because I enjoy talking to all you :)
-
Just because they've planned to have multiple DLCs and games in the series, doesn't excuse that the first entry is poor. You wouldn't be happy if the first movie in a planned trilogy was poor just because "there's going to be more films", would you?
-
Preach!

I do really enjoy the game, but I also just hope that we are not all trying to believe that better things are to come because we all believed the hype. I will admit the story did not grab me and was a little disappointed, and can see how players who are grinding hours for gear will now start to get bored, a months gaming hours in a week lol
