The lack of story is what seems to be the biggest complaint across the board. I guess I understand that since this is a console game, its bringing in mainly console gamers. They are confused in what the game is about. I can almost promise you if this was a PC only game, it would be scoring 8.5-9.5 across the board. It plays just like DIablo 3. A game that has the most cliched story of all time. But the story isn't why you play diablo. You play it to kill thousands of enemies, increasing your power as you go, and trying to find that one perfect piece of gear. Destiny takes a bit further and adds some MMO-lite features in raids, faction grinding, and PVP.
I just cant understand why gears of war, call of duty, titanfall can score so high, when they have less content than destiny. The complaint of repetition in areas doesnt even hit until after you have finished the campaign and hit 20. That campaign is 15+hours. How long was the last call of duty? And while we are on those games, the campaigns are wack a mole, shooting galleries. Run down a corridor, enemies pop up directly in front you and shoot and duck. No flanking, no retreating, no tactics, no challenge. Honestly the only shooter campaign i have ever thought was really good was Halo, and thats because of the level design and enemy AI improvements we got starting with halo 3.
Anyway, Destiny is everything I have ever wanted out of an MMO hybrid. I get to jump in an out of action in a moments notice. Hop between PVE and PVP whenever my heart desires. I can play for an hour or 5 and feel like I accomplished something. I cant beat a player in PVP who out levels and gears me. And I could go on, but you get the point. For me at least, its the perfect game. I haven't been able to get into MMOs in the last few years because they are so boring. Games like Diablo and monster hunter scratched the itch, but didnt require me to sync up my schedule with 10-20+ other players to accomplish anything. By adding fantastic shooting combat to the formula, adapting it for a console environment, and reducing the amount of players needed to succeed late game, bungie has made the perfect game for me. As long as they continue to support it and add content, I will be here playing.

Its not the size that counts, its how you use it.

Edited by Tekn0z: 9/14/2014 4:01:51 AMDiablo 1 was the best and most compelling diablo in terms of story and presentation. Butcher, ah fresh meat. One of the most epic moments in isometric RPG games ever!!! I doubt destiny has anything that gives you such a lasting impression

Destiny is akin to Diablo 3. That's the Diablo I'm using in my comparison. Diablo 1 was epic, bit that's cause it was a first of it's kind.

Great post! I was making this same D3:ROS comparison this am in my posts. Exactly correct here. Even if we the story continues to equate to blizzards cliched crap, the game is still a total blast to grind!

It's a rare thing to see it on a forum. Almost like seeing a UFO with your own eyes.
