How did you take the screenshots without hud and guns? I wasn't able to play the alpha or the beta, but back in the Halo days I was really into doing artistic screenshots.

In the Destiny beta I was able to take screenshots without HUD by simply roaming around in the very first section of the game, before you are given any weapons. Another option is the "sit" emote. If you toy with the camera while sitting, you can get an angle where only the top of the head shows. I spent A LOT of time with theater mode in the Halo games that supported it. Those tools were awesome and really empowered the creative community. It seems unknown to us as fans whether or not Destiny will feature a "HUD-free" mode or anything similar to Halo's theater. If it ever does, that's where I'll be!

  • That's awesome! I'm really really hoping that there's a theater mode in Destiny (I still haven't found any confirmation after extensive searches and asking questions). I was very involved in the screenshot community in the Halo days, but I don't recognize your name! I founded the group, Mythic Photographers, and it got a chance at the community spotlight (Bungie favorites). I had to do some digging on the "old" bnet but I found my Halo 3 file share and my Halo Reach file share if you want to check out my stuff! I'd love to check out your screenshots too. Also, I founded a new group called Photographers of Destiny in anticipation of a Destiny theater mode. It would be awesome if you joined! In case you weren't in any screenshot groups in the Halo days, the whole idea is to share your work, receive feedback, and give feedback to others' work. Mythic Photographers really prospered in the Halo days, and I'm hoping that this new one can thrive (as long as Destiny has a theater mode of sorts).

Yeah man! I remember the Mythic Photographers. I'll check out your new group. The stuff I did with theater mode mostly involved photo editing via Photoshop. Back in the day, I was really inspired by artwork that community members such as CAUS7IC (examples here) and Halcylon were making. Anybody could create screenshot art/posters/wallpapers just by using theater mode and Adobe software, and that was a lot of fun to mess around with. • Also, were you in Aberrant Designs? CAUS7IC founded it as a small group for talented artists on Bungie. I was in it when I was still MarineManiac on the xbox

  • Yeah! Wow, I almost completely forgot about that group. I was in Aberrant Designs at some point until CAUS7IC went AFK.

  • I joined a while after he went AFK, so I never got to know him myself, but his work is great. I really hope Destiny gives the community another chance to show off its creativity

  • Wow I really like your work! This one is particularly clever haha I'd actually really like to explore screenshots in photoshop and light room for Destiny (as well as with the photography I do in real life), so maybe you could teach me a thing or two? I haven't started Photographers of Destiny in earnest since I don't know if there will be a theater mode, but I'll get all of the structure up once the game starts as long as screenshots are possible.
