I thought about the whole fanboi phenomenon while on the way to work. There are a couple of factors I think play a big role in the development of these attitudes. 1. Pride in one's purchase. Car example: I'm paying for brand X, there for it's better than brand y. I don't want to ever feel bad about my purchase. I will put down brand y because I feel like it threatens the confidence I have in my purchase. 2. I suck at lots of things except playing my games on my console of choice. Therefore, I must put down others to assert my dominance in this narrow field. 3. I'm unhappy, therefore you are not allowed to be anything but unhappy with me. Otherwise known as the douche bag. This covers most of the idiocy of the internet at large. These are my big three. There are other good ideas, and I'd love to see intelligent discussion. Then I remember this is bungie.net... Not exactly a place for rational, deliberate thought. Flame on. I'm happy so you words only amuse me. 😀
