Personally I usually used a Scout Rifle, but whenever I wasn't using my Jigoku, I used my Suros. I don't understand why people seem to hate on the weapon type, considering the effectiveness when used properly.

6 Repliesunnecessarily high recoil damage is barely higher than AR Eats ammo ridiculous rate of fire due to bursting (slow IMO) they are decent in the PvE part of the game, god awful in PvP still fail in each compared to Scout and AR.

Edited by Discreet Dinner: 8/20/2014 3:44:40 AMthis thread is a unicorn, considering it's complaining about underpowered weapons XD

It was okay...but was neither accurate enough, possessed of enough DPS, or particularly valuable when you consider the Shingen did rate of fire and stability, and the Cydonia did stability and power......
-
Low Ammo No Damage High Recoil if you like Burst go Scout , If you want power go Auto. I hope Bungie wont buff the Pulse to be the #1 weapon of the game... because after a certain amount of gameplay ... that finger hurt
-
They were underpowered, they're going to get a buff along with Hand Cannons come full release.

Because they're ridiculously underpowered.
-
So much recoil that they miss half their shots.
-
I loved them...Used then a lot..Dominated in the crucible with them ...

4 RepliesEdited by DeviousBarnacle: 8/20/2014 12:00:51 AMLess hate, more disappointed When i think of a burst rifle i think that it would be better at longer ranges than a full auto. But the Pulse Rifle had to much recoil most of the time for it to be useful at the ranges that i wanted to use it.
-
I used a pulse rifle in game and I didn't mind it. It had better control then the other two but the rate of fire and the recoil needed imporving.

Edited by Din: 8/20/2014 12:47:12 AMI think you will find people who hate each weapon equally. Some just complain more than others. I found all guns were good in some situations, and bad in others. It was my least favourite gun though.
-
It didn't really do a good job of filling that gap between the auto rifle and scout rifle.
-
I loved my pulse rifle in pve. But it seemed to slow/weak to kill someone using a assault or scout rifle in pvp
-
It's because it was in effective in PVP compared to scout and especially auto rifle. Mainly because of the recoil. If the recoil wasn't so bad it would be fine. I wanted to use pulse rifle in the game but I quickly switched to scout.

Edited by NordicSol: 8/19/2014 11:15:33 PMHonestly I'd rather a hand cannon in pvp than a pulse rifle, haha. They just weren't all that effective against other players. PRs had a slow rate of fire and ate ammo like a champ. Not to mention that the recoil threw the reticle all over the place.
-
You didn't play much PvP. The pulse rifle did not compare with the scout rifle or the assault rifle.
-
They are pointless compared to auto rifles because auto rifles are auto, meaning more shots in more damage dealt. I play to use scout rifles in the final build but I also love pulse rifles in other games so I will probably use pulse rifles as we'll.
-
1 Replybecause they didnt play Halo2 and dont know what XBR or XYR means
-
I didn't hate Pulse Rifles in the Beta. They did seem a bit underpowered though, especially the Uncommon versions (which, for some reason, often had smaller clips than the Common ones), but I enjoyed using them in PvE.
-
Why do people hate anything that kills them
-
Depends on what you are playing. If all you play is PvE...then you CAN muddle through using the Pulse Rifle as it was during the Beta. It was a poor weapon in comparison to the others, but you could make it work. In PvP play however, the PR was just about USELESS. Too much recoil, too slow a firing rate, and too little damage. If you tried to run with one of them, players with SRs ate you up in mid-to-long range engagements because their fire was more accurate and hit harder. Players with ARs ate you in close-to-mid range engagements because the PRs rounds didn't hit hard enough to make up for the ARs higher fire rate. IOW, they can just point at you...and hold the trigger down until you were dead...faster than you can pull the trigger on that PR multiple times. So there is nowhere in The Crucible where the PR player has an advantage. By comparison, Titanfall has an EXCELLENT burstfire rifle in the Hemlock-BFR. Its a very stable, low-recoil weapon that (in its base configuration) fires three-round burst that hit hard. Two trigger pulls is usually all it takes to put another player (pilot) down...and anyone who is up against someone wielding a Hemlock in a mid-range engagemnent in Titan fall is in SERIOUS trouble. Because you're likely to be dead before you even figure out where you're taking fire from. Properly balanced. The PR should dominate the mid-range in The Crucible...and it just doesn't. Which is why Bungie is buffing it for the final release of the game.

3 RepliesI actually started to like them a bit toward the end of the beta. I found one that had a full auto upgrade. You would just hold down the trigger and it would full auto bursts. They'll be even better after the buff as will hand cannons.
-
I used almost exclusively Pulse rifles and didn't have a problem.
-
They are not very accurate. The spread is too much.

They sound awesome to me.
