That's not a PC, it's a computer tower, a PC includes the monitor

Pc and monitor are 2 different things.

Edited by Atom Alchemist: 8/30/2014 4:17:08 PMactually...not really, a pc REQUIRES, some sort of imput, and some sort of output, the first pc was a all in one that output was only like receipt paper, litterally, a pc to be a pc, requires that it be usable by the enduser without a intervening operator, and a pc without a monitor is NOT usable.
-
A computer is the primary hardware needed to function which is input not output u can have mic and speakers as input/output. A monitor is not a computer and a pc is a personal computer. For example u can own a desktop computer without a monitor does not mean it will not function.
-
please, explain to me how a computer can function without a output? and yes, a speaker CAN be a output, but there no output, or input in the picture, thus, that computer tower is missing componants to be a complete computer. literally the first EVer personally computer had a text based receipt output, and a keyboard input, it was a single unit, that is where the definition of personal computer comes from.
-
Imput can be motion sensors and output an alam. A digital watch is a computer, heart rate monitors are also a comput. The op said pc which is personal computer meaning your own computer technically hense its name personal nothing to do with monitors or keyboards they are secondary parts.
-
... /sigh, yea a personal computer, but alas, HOW is he able to USE that computer with ZERO output, or input, thus it does NOT fit the definition of PC as it is not usable by the end user, by YOU definition, the processor, by itself could be considered a PC instead of merely a component of a pc.
-
Input/output devices are not a computer so that means u dont need them to own a computer. Like if i own a car with no wheels it is still a car.

Edited by Atom Alchemist: 8/20/2014 5:08:36 PMyea, technically it also include the imput device (usaully a keyboard) basically a pc must be usable by the end user without a interveneing operator, thus to be usable you need a display, and a input, . think of a PC like a laptop, it's a monitor, all the internal stuff, and a keyboard. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commodore_PET#mediaviewer/File:Commodore_2001_Series-IMG_0448b.jpg the above link is one of the earlier pc, they were "all in ones" where the keyboard, display and tower were one part.

Whilst arguing the semantics on what is essentially a comedy post is beautifully eristic in itself, It is widely accepted that the main body of a 'PC' may be referred to colloquially as a 'PC' regardless of the display used, many personal computers in the 80's from the early Sinclair ZX 80/81/Spectrum, Oric One/Atmos, Apple II, Commodore VIC20, C64, C16+4/128/Amiga, BBC model B, Acorn Electron, Atari 400/800/ST/Falcon, etc, etc were all marketed as personal computers despite not having a dedicated display. Thats the beauty of language, its fluid and adapts over time to fit the needs of the people using it, its basically all about comprehension.
