Don't know if anybody else has noticed, but while playing the Beta, I noticed that on some weapons (like the AR and Machine Gun) you would charge the charging handle when reloading, regardless of whether or not there was already a round in the chamber. That extra (and pointless) charging animation got me killed more than a few times when there was no need to actually charge the weapon in the first place. I found this VERY annoying.
For anybody not familiar with the concept of "Charging a Weapon" - A weapon has a "Bolt" that pushes a round into the "Chamber" where it is fired. The "Bolt" then "Extracts" the spent case and flings or drops it out the side. The "Bolt" is then pushed back forwards "Chambering" another round from the magazine. So if you reload, and there is already a round "Chambered" and you "Charge" the weapon. You will have succeeded in throwing that good round away. If you do happen to fire an entire magazine. Then, and only then, should you manually charge the weapon.

I actually prefer the full animation. Useless and "unrealistic" sure, but it just...looks better to me. Not sure why. Also: this is 700+ years in the future. The guns are loaded with all sorts of sci-fi tech. "Charging" a weapon could mean exactly that: charging the ammunition or firing mechanism from some kind of onboard micro-generator.
