I've never understood how KDR works in general and is mine good, bad, or average (for my warlock). What does a high kdr indicate? What does a low kdr indicate? Is KDR only affected my pvp? I'm not sure about it...

21 Replies......how many kills do you get per death. It's a measure of killing prowess.
-
Kills divided by deaths Ex.... 10 kills % by 5 deaths is a 2 kd
-
Kills/deaths. If that's hard to understand go back to grade school.

This is the exact same post the phony Deej posted

Edited by ArchAngel: 8/18/2014 1:28:45 AMBEST ANSWER RIGHT HERE BRUH!!!!
KDR is a acronym for kill/death ratio. So if i get 15 kills and 3 deaths in a match, my KDR is 5.00 (15 / 3 = 5). Destiny uses KDR in both PvP and PvE. So there is no difference in the two. Other than, HOPEFULLY your KDR is higher in PvE than PvP. But it is just another stat. There's really no current importance in it other than saying how "alive" you are in the average match.
Some guy said this but I'd like to add that assist also matter. Because you can have 14 kills 7 deaths and end up with a 2 point something ratio rather than a straight 2.0 like it should be. Idk how Destiny works but some games count every 2 assist As a kill. Because for an assist you get half the points of an actual kill so two assist equally a whole kill. Also kills earned from assist only count towards kdr not your actual accumulated kills.

More deaths indicate you are getting stomped...

Your kdr is ok, ive seen much worse. I wouldn't say its good but you've barely played the crucible with either class you used so its hard to say.

By dividing your deaths by your kills
-
It's a ratio of kills vs deaths. So if you have 5 kills to 1 death then your KDR is 5.0, but if you had say 2 deaths to 1 kill then your KDR would be .5. It's meant to indicate prowess on the battlefield but it can be manipulated, some people with high KDR will leave a match when it looks like that KDR may take a hit. So let's say I've got a KDR of 3.5 but I just jumped into a match where it's full of awesome players and I'm getting creamed, my KDR is only at like 1-1.3, well that's going to kill my average so ill just leave the match and save my KDR, go find a match with some less skilled players dominate and keep that KDR up. Bottom line is KDR is used to gauge a players skill without actually facing them in battle, but I'd take any KDR with a grain of salt, it's not an absolute indicator of player skill.

Edited by OldboyVicious: 8/17/2014 10:01:52 PMI think everyone else has pretty much explained it, but don't forget you get one 'free' death. If you kill 5 enemies and never die, your K/D is 5.0. If you kill 5 enemies and you die once, your K/D is 5.0. If you are going for medals where you have to refrain from dying an entire match, this might not matter, but going for high number K/D's, you can use it to your advantage: Toward the end of a match if you haven't died and the enemy team is desperate, you can usually run out hell's-bells getting them to attack and do a suicide, shooting and dropping grenades/supers to earn you a few last kills with no penalty... and heck, if you survive, even better. But that second death will cut your K/D right in half so be careful.

Kills divided by Deaths = KDR, Low KDRs commonly associated with worse players but this isn't always true and vice versa for better players
