Story, campaigns, and your favourites

My favourite part of most games is the campaigns, as opposed to competitive multiplayer. Most of the time I consider it a bonus if the campaigns support co-op as well. It bothers me that when I play co-op campaigns online, almost everyone wants to skip the cutscenes. No matter how many times I've seen them before, I still want to see them, because I love a good story. What are the games that featured some of your favourite stories? For me: 1. The Last of Us [2013] 2. Resident Evil 6 [2012] (That game received way too much hate. I can tell that so much effort was put into it.) 3. Mass Effect Trilogy [2007-2012] 4. Star Wars Republic Commando [2005] 5. The Walking Dead [2012] or the Metal Gear Solid Series (only played MGS2, 3 and 4)

  • Yikes. Mass Effect, Bioshock, and The Last of Us are probably the only games where I've really been interested in the story. It's not so much about the actual plot with any of the games but instead how they're able to get you involved in it. Mass Effect did a great job of connecting the player to the universe and characters, Bioshock had an amazing atmosphere, and the chemistry between Joel and Ellie in The Last of Us sold the plot for me. Tbh, story is very low on the list of things I care about in games, so maybe that's why I haven't noticed very much.
