I mean they have a standing army more than a million strong. Each member of that army can wade into battle outnumbered 100:1 and still win. Not only that but they are IMMORTAL. Killing a guardian only pisses them off.
No worries your city is protected by millions of immortal juggernauts. With magical powers to boot.

So perhaps someone has already set straight what I kinda saw as a misconception already... but if we're going to desperately eek out lore from the little drops of story we've gotten so far - the traveler is in a mother -blam!-ing coma. The Darkness is scary still, because we just haven't seen it. Stuff has been happening with Fallen, hive and cabal still being in our faces and and everything, but the influence of the Darkness is not present right now, hence "... That the Darkness would return one day." The guardians haven't encountered legit darkness juiced forces since the fall all the way back to the last city. For that matter there are dead ghosts to rescue, guardians totally die. Whether the reviving is a story canon concept or just the style of game play I don't think is as clear, but if your ghost dies, you die. Pretty sure this alluded to in the grimoire cards also. Anyone who paid legit better attention than me? Did I miss something? Straight up wrong about something? Overall though, we are basically space Sparta in terms of badassedness, I mean when the end raids come? 6 guardians will mow down an entire army, probably, if that's how that works.
