DayZ Stories

Feel free to contribute any stories you have, be it your own fictional story, or a true one. Just put a spoiler and say which.
Both DayZ mod and Standalone welcome. My story is a true one with a little flair of course
My story begins on a GMT server. It was approximately 7pm in the summer of 2012. As you can imagine, the sun was low on the horizon, we had around an hour of light to get in and out. Our camp was not far from the town of Berezino, we had found a lake to the north, easy to find with the coast being so close. It provided water for several trips, and a good base of operations. The brush there was marvellous cover for our ATV and Van. As you can probably guess, we were raiding the town of Berezino. I personally was not happy about this, we knew there were a few snipers in the area, and had only just lost one of our members the day before to one of those blighters. Regardless, the group carried on. We were running low on food and medical supplies, and several of us were sick. The rain had gotten to us, and the infection spread like wildfire. By the time we arrived on the outskirts it was 7:30. The walk took longer than anticipated, probably due to that map we lost when we had our last casualty. The city looked empty, but I knew better. The stiller it looked, the further dread set into all of our hearts. We had split up into two groups of three. The heavily armed group would move quickly towards the hospital, and grab as much as possible, as that was where the highest concentration of Zeds were. The rest of us would raid the supermarkets and apartments for supplies. The rendezvous point was in the square at the top of the hill, marked by a statue of a tank from the communist era. Damn, back then they had nothing to worry about other than money and land. If only they knew what was to come. We had reached then first supermarket, not much to take, just a few cans of beans. As we all stopped to take a look around before we left, it seemed like the whole world came to a standstill. Not a sound. Just... Peace. Then the most awful noise you could ever hear came buzzing to the forefront. "There's a body nearby" somebody muttered. Not a good sign, we thought hopefully it was a Zed, nothing too serious. As we edged around the back, we saw him. Sprawled on the floor, blood dripping from his neck. The pool of rancid blood was festering with insects. We rummaged through his bag - nothing. "Come on, let's get to the top of the hill, times running out" I heard, but something wasn't quite right about this. Why would a bambie be all the way up here? With nothing? It seemed rather odd. It only occurred to me at the very minute a bullet ricocheted off the sheet metal behind me that a deep cut wound lay deep below his collar. Bandits. I scrambled for cover, tripping over his body and landing in a heap behind the fence. I heard a scream at the top of the hill, followed by what seemed like an eternity of gunshots. Then, sudden silence. The Zeds must have found the shooter. One of us was badly injured, a broken leg. He was unconscious and we couldn't wake him. We had to wait for the rest of the team, of what was left of it to regroup with us, and hopefully get us out of here. 30 minutes passed. Nothing. We had strict instructions to regroup at the entrance to the town if we couldn't make it to the statue. I reached for my binoculars to take a look at the second rendezvous point, 1 man. It was too dark to tell who, but he was definitely with our party. I knew it was a bad idea from the start. Why didn't I make myself clear, that we were definitely going to get into trouble? Regardless, they wouldn't have listened anyway, stubborn lot. We dragged our wounded friend to the edge of town, by now it was around 8:30pm. We couldn't see much, and honestly couldn't tell if we were at the point. I was sure we had found it, then I knew. We were here alright. It was the final party member, dead. I looked around frantically, checking all angles before running back to the other two. We had to leave the unconscious member, he would have to find his own way when he awoke. We stemmed his bleeding and dropped a couple of cans into his pack, then we ran. We ran like hell. After around an hour of running, stopping, catching our breath and orientating ourselves, we had reached the black lake. I sighed long and hard. We had lost a lot that day. Seen a lot of horrific things. But nothing as horrific as what was to come. I turned to my fellow survivor to check on how he was doing, and what was the next move. "Dude, we've got to try and recover some of that stuff we lost to-" his voice cut dead. Blood dripped from his lips, he fell to his knees and died in front of my eyes. Behind him stood a tall, dark man, wearing headgear I could only describe as a mask. In his hands was a 2ft. axe, dripping with blood. I reached for my revolver but it was too late. A searing pain went shooting down my thigh, I heard a loud crack and everything when black. Even darker than before. All I could think was, was I dead? How could I be? I'm still thinking, of am I in heaven? I opened my eyes, they were heavy and I could feel the dirt on my eyelids as I blinked. I saw him. Just hunching, crouched over the body of my friend. I reached for my revolver. Lifting it with the little strength I had, and squeezed the trigger. He fell to the ground like a sack of spuds. It was over. I died that day. I never set foot on that server again.
