Should they also lower the total number of rounds you have by the number left in the magazine that you just ejected?

Most shooters have those rounds magically loaded into a new magazine, and I'm completely okay with that. Lets be honest, would it really be fun if you watched your guy manually load loose rounds in a new magazine? I have spent more than enough time loading mags, and it -blam!-in' blows.

I agree with you, in fact that was my point. He was expecting the weapon to be completely realistic in one area while ignoring all the other ways that the lack of realism works in your favor.
