I already see hunters getting screwed in raids.
First off I'm hunter. Always will be. It feels like people already don't want hunters in their raid group. They say because it has no support sub class and would be useless. As someone who has raided for many years I know how important a dps is. Going into a raid with all warlocks and titans with their support sub classes active just won't work well. You need those killing machines. Could be a hunter, maybe a Titan with striker or warlock with it's void damage.
The other thing is we don't even know at this point if the suspected third sub class for hunter is support or not. It may end up being some long rang heal or maybe even something that grants all your team invisibility. Who knows. Not sure why people are already shunning the hunter for raids but I can see the hunter being great in a raid as a bladedancer and I can't wait to see what the third sub class is if in fact we get one at release. It may very well end up being the best support sub class in the game, it may not but the point is hunters for life. Just like a lot of people who think the Titan is the best melee I beg to differ. Hunters melee is incredible.
Note: I am not saying one class is better than the other. I actually think they are all great and I'll play all of them. Hunter will always be my main though. Just like the speed and throwing knife and the jump fits my playstyle. Very fast.

With a good bladedancer build, you can stay invisible forever. That'll come in handy in situation where there's tons of weaker enemies fighting along side a few strong ones. Let thother dish out some damage to the stron ones, hunter goes in and stealthily takes out the weak enemies, and by then you can activate arc blade and finish off the strong guys. This is coming from a Warlock btw.

3 RepliesWhilst a sun singer and defender seem very useful for a raid the classes you choose shouldn't matter too much. The whole point of destiny's classes is that there is no "tank" or "adc", the roles are versatile. The compliment your play style not dictate it.

Hopefully my ability to stay alive by being invisible (Bladedancer) will allow me to more easily revive my teammates / let them respawn on me. Since I -am- that sniping, stealthy type of Hunter, I should be able to fire non-stop, since I'd be in a safe place and not have to stop to take cover. I'd do my best to aim for those that are firing upon my teammates at that time. The Hunter could be a helpful class if used in a certain way, just like the other classes.

I take it you have been playing MMOs way to long and riding that unicorn slaying dragons has failed you to realize all classes are DPS there is no holy trinity. So this post is pointless, climb back into bed with snuggles (wow, wild star, everquest, ESO, guild wars, etc) and calm down everything will be OK your fantasy land of being a badass AI computer slayer will be intact. Best thing you can do is put your carebear talents to is figuring out a way to make the respawn screen more enjoyable in the crucible since you spend an awful amount of time on there given your current kd.

Well hunters are actually going to have to be stealthy then. They will get killed easily if they run in the open as if they were a Titan. Now a full ten if hunters, forget it. They're done for. I'd day have every subclass for a raid

People excluding Hunters for raids are going to be lacking a primary offensive force... Bladedancer will clear out enemies easy, and gives good long range capabilities.

I was usually the infiltrator with a sniper rifle in ME3 co-op. I specifically targeted powerful targets like the Atlus, Banshee, and Praetorian. I'd likely have a similar role of dealing with the deadlier enemies in a group. I'm betting the 3rd subclass will be stealth and/or sniper rifle related.

I tried all 3 classes and see no reason why hunters wouldn't be included in a raid. If they can help take the enemy down and revive fallen comrades, then that's all that matters with classes in a raid. It's not going to be anywhere near as hardcore as an mmorpg. Just know what you're all doing and give it your all ;-)

When I get up to raiding I will welcome all that want to Raid. Every class needs raid won gear.

Yeah some people do not understand that DPS is as important as support or tank. Every class and ability backs up your party in one way or another. And yeah HUNTER 4 LIFE because it fits my play style too!

There are many games where a class or two don't have "supportive" skills and they are the one who takes the advantage of the ones who have the support buffs and deal the most damage where it's needed.in fact if you all are supportive then you all aren't at your max dps. That's the trade off. Either spend 8hours trying to do something extremely over safely or take 3hrs while still being safe with people who actually have good damage where it counts
