I already see hunters getting screwed in raids.

First off I'm hunter. Always will be. It feels like people already don't want hunters in their raid group. They say because it has no support sub class and would be useless. As someone who has raided for many years I know how important a dps is. Going into a raid with all warlocks and titans with their support sub classes active just won't work well. You need those killing machines. Could be a hunter, maybe a Titan with striker or warlock with it's void damage. The other thing is we don't even know at this point if the suspected third sub class for hunter is support or not. It may end up being some long rang heal or maybe even something that grants all your team invisibility. Who knows. Not sure why people are already shunning the hunter for raids but I can see the hunter being great in a raid as a bladedancer and I can't wait to see what the third sub class is if in fact we get one at release. It may very well end up being the best support sub class in the game, it may not but the point is hunters for life. Just like a lot of people who think the Titan is the best melee I beg to differ. Hunters melee is incredible. Note: I am not saying one class is better than the other. I actually think they are all great and I'll play all of them. Hunter will always be my main though. Just like the speed and throwing knife and the jump fits my playstyle. Very fast.

  • A Hunter just needs more meat. The Hunter class itself is supposed to be a single-target, high DPS killing machine, but it needs the buffs of a Titan-Defender w/weapons of Light and the shield to give it higher damage and survivability in the raids. I'm not counting the Hunters out, but you guys can't make it on your own, gotta mix it up.

      • We have no evidence of a 3rd sub class and don't think "because there is an empty 3rd slot" doesn't make it count. Deej said everything we've seen so far is in the final version. We've seen 2 subclasses, so for now focus on the gunslinger and the bladedancer. Also i too, am a hunter and im not worried in the slightest about raiding. Personally i think i'll excell in it, espacially if the other classes play support.

Comments in these threads prove that no matter what it is, people will find a way to discriminate against something.

      • i think the third subclass will be support since the other 2 classes have support unless its already been revealed and i just havent kept up with it

      • See people on here saying a hunter can't hang on it's one when in fact I think it's all on playstyle. I went down a ton as a Titan or warlock but when I was a hunter I was unstoppable. In strikes we'd go all hunter and have no problem. It's all based on how you like to play. I prefer speed and I feel hunter has that. Those other jumps just get me killed but that's not saying they are bad, just not for my playstyle.

Hunters will get their proper respect when people see how blade dancer works. I've seen a sneak peek and it's AMAZING

          • 1) There is no comparison between Destiny and a traditional MMO raid. There are no healers, there are no tanks, in this case, every single person is DPS. The only difference would be crowd control, which every single class can do (Blade Dancer, Voidwalker, Striker) Everyone has guns. Everyone shoots. Everyone does damage. Everyone has access to every element through guns, which is going to be the -primary- way to access elements. You don't NEED any class to do anything. 2) Don't expect a third subclass at launch. That will most likely happen somewhere down the road.

In my eyes, as an FPS player on both PC and console, there is always one of these on every great PvP team: A mad dog. I call them that because while everyone on the team collaborates, gaining positions on the map, moving as a unit, making tactical moves, there is always one player out there just constantly pressuring the other team. Considering Destiny's wave encounters are setup, as we have seen, static to one location, I can see having a hunter being very beneficial to the team. He is the scout. The lone wolf that keeps the pressure off the pack. A contributing factor from the exterior of the main battle, dampening the amount of mobs attacking the group at once. Yes he has very self centered play style. But just look at it this way: This class is the class designed for lone wolves. A class who, while not refusing to work as a team, can indirectly make the difference in completing a strike encounter, or not. I see the hunter being used to take out waves of adds as the titan goes into survival mode against the boss, while the warlock is back and forth depending on the encounter. After the wave of enemies is defeated, then they switch back to attack formation on the boss. We all are forgetting one crucial thing: This game is NOT balanced like MMOs. It will never be balanced in that perspective. These encounters are like nothing we have ever experienced before, and like nothing anyone has balanced before. They want to give variety right now a little more than balance in order to make the money back that they have spent. Once the graphs and charts trend up to profitable margins we will see the REAL balancing act begin. That shouldn't take very long at all. And lets all be completely honest... If the game is fun for everyone, does balance REALLY matter that much anyways? Keep in mind that in the future, we will see more sub classes, maybe more weapon sub classes, and many more enemies to deal with. I myself will be a defender titan, keeping my teammates safe, and throwing myself into the fray as much as my absorb shield gained from disintegrate allows. Using my suppressor grenade to interrupt, and giving all of my strike/raid members buffs with my ward of dawn. I do feel bad for the warlocks on the orb of light mechanic, as they get kind of screwed. The way i see it, Titans pick up both the warlock and the hunter orbs much easier, by having a bit more defense, and a lot more armor to allow "mob surfing" as i so elegantly call it. Basically meaning, I run in between all of the mobs to get orbs produced by warlocks and hunters much easier. Hunters have some ability to surf in there, considering they can utilize a blink, and on their bladedancer sub class they are a bit more able to go in for the close quarter kills. Warlocks do not posses this, and therefore cannot go in for the hunter-created orbs, leaving their super at a lower regeneration rate. But maybe that is the tricky part of being a warlock. A Maybe that is the risk/reward play style they want. We shall see. TL:DR: BLAH BLAH BLAH, "Hunters are still cool in their own way" BLAH BLAH BLAH.

              • I still dont see Hunters being top dps. A titan striker could do just as much damage as a burner.

              • I don't know about PvE, but Hunters were definitely the best for PvP. When 9 out of the top 10 players were hunters that is more than just a coincidence.

              • I'm a Hunter too, I was and choose to stay , it's all about skill, go to a Street Fighter tournament and watch people kick ass w Dan and nobody will say anything. It happens . I love being a Hunter but my Clanmates can also testify I ran jumped on top of the Devil Walker shot it's "head" and stabbed it for the hell of it. Then sat there until it exploded. It's all good.

              • I think hunters are still pretty balanced. We may not be able to take out as many enemies at once like Titans and Warlocks, however, we still have a super powerful gun that deals tons of damage. Look at like this, lets say you're raiding and you happen to be the only hunter. The titans and warlocks are doing a ton of damage to a lot of enemies with their specials, but then a stronger leveled enemy comes along, for example say, a hallowed wizard thats a couple levels higher than you are. You pull out your golden gun, and kill that high threat enemy, or at least do a ton of damage to it way more quickly than any of the other classes could have. Hunters' special has range and a ton of power. We'll be alright.

                • Seems to me that the hunters special does the most single point damage and can hit fast moving floating targets. But I guess that won't matter in a raid that no one knows anything about yet.

                  • Unless the golden gun gets a damage buff at end game levels then blade dancer will be the obvious choice for raids. Much more DPS potential AND surviviability. If there is a 3rd sub class for hunters i doubt it'll be support. Hunter's just arn't support type. If anything it probably would be AOE.
