I already see hunters getting screwed in raids.

First off I'm hunter. Always will be. It feels like people already don't want hunters in their raid group. They say because it has no support sub class and would be useless. As someone who has raided for many years I know how important a dps is. Going into a raid with all warlocks and titans with their support sub classes active just won't work well. You need those killing machines. Could be a hunter, maybe a Titan with striker or warlock with it's void damage. The other thing is we don't even know at this point if the suspected third sub class for hunter is support or not. It may end up being some long rang heal or maybe even something that grants all your team invisibility. Who knows. Not sure why people are already shunning the hunter for raids but I can see the hunter being great in a raid as a bladedancer and I can't wait to see what the third sub class is if in fact we get one at release. It may very well end up being the best support sub class in the game, it may not but the point is hunters for life. Just like a lot of people who think the Titan is the best melee I beg to differ. Hunters melee is incredible. Note: I am not saying one class is better than the other. I actually think they are all great and I'll play all of them. Hunter will always be my main though. Just like the speed and throwing knife and the jump fits my playstyle. Very fast.

  • Come on.. i mean.. come on, none of the classes other than Titans really have a support abilities worth talking about, ooooh sunsinger gets an option that when they activate their super the other guys c/ds are reduced a little bit... and maybe might generate 1 or 2 orbs of light once in awhile from scorching an enemy. Wow, so much support there. Titans are the only class with any support abilities to speak of, and they pay for it by having a completely non-offensive super if they are a defender. Ward of dawn is a decent, conditional support power, and the ability to generate light orbs every now and then when killing with heavy weapons, neat. Hunters do not have any direct support abilities, rather seem to focus entirely on dealing damage, with kills giving extensions to supers, or resetting c/d's or restoring health immediatly upon killing with a blink strike and other things that are designed to let you chain various attacks together. Bladedancer "Beautiful lethality, relentless style" From the classes thus far, this game seems to be focusing more on team based support, not ability. How well you can coordinate with your teammates to take down an objective, not ability based support. In a perfect world I would expect something like this. A horde of enemies approaches a defender, a gunslinger, and a voidwalker.. the minions start rushing towards the group, the warlock hits a choke point with vortex grenade, stopping the flow of enemies going through it, the defender activates ward of dawn, stopping the small arms fire and significantly more painful attacks from a powerful wizard, the hunter activates his golden gun and uses all 3 shots to blast the wizard, hopefully killing it, but some of those bastards are pretty tough. The voidwalker throws a nova bomb into the center of the group, finishing off the wizard and many of the small fries, after that the 3 split up and hunt down the remaining enemies.

  • The only thing about that is that if you have a full warlock Titan raid group most could be support yes the the warlocks "void walker" subclass is a glass Cannon. The titans first subclass is a powerhouse. And whithin those subclasses there stil are abilities that help teammates. If hunters can't work effectively with other classes no one will want them on raids. A warlock can use radiance to Boise everyone and a Titan can creat a large shield. OR you can have the shield from a Titan and have a warlock use his nova bomb from inside. The hunter on the other hand does not help others therefore hunters are for solitary players

Not sure where you're getting Hunter hate from, but all classes will have very important roles. I will say this, I think you're thinking about it a little wrong. There is no dps role. Listen at 1:05 in this video that I'm sure you've seen. Everyone's job is to kill bad guys, that's it. Kill kill kill. Hunters will fit that role perfectly. Did you see the Blade Dancer super power in the recent vids? That Hunter was decimating people left and right. If you want to play Hunter, I'll welcome you with open arms because Hunters go to kick ass and chew bubblegum, and they're fresh out of Big League Chew. Edit - sp and grammar

First of all let me say I feel ya. I believe Warlocks have the best best melee of all but that's my personal preference. Personally I'd love to have a Hunter on my team with the GOLDEN GUN for raids. I already have a strategy planned out. Honestly is love to play with ya and have you on my team. If got bed sine more people to run with just hmu. Add me if you'd like. Gt: TSK Sefier

    • Peeps aren't going to be excluding Hunters because they don't value DPS. They're going to be excluding hunters because there will be a BILLION straight damage build players at launch (like every other MMO style game in existence) vs a significantly smaller crowd of support minded players. So the minority of support players (which because hunters don't have a support build excludes them outright) are going to be more in demand and get work/spots over the more common DPS players in organized runs. I've seen it a hundred times.

Oh look, another seasoned raider who thinks they know how raids and class systems work in destiny, that game that was already released, thus making everything you say a fact because by now there are many reputable sources confirming what you say.

    • If there's like trash mob pulls in the raids witch there might be then blade dancer hunters will be the best at that then switch to golden gun for bosses to stay ranged.

        • Alot of Hunters have an inferiority complex. They've seen (if not felt) Fist of Havoc lay waste to a control point. And they've watched a Warlock use their Nova bomb to eradicate enemies. For some to see the other AoE supers makes their attack seem rather puny. But you'll also note that both Warlock and Titan's super can have a lingering effect, an aftermath to damage anything that steps into that attack area. So while they can hit a larger area, they can also miss by a wide margin. They can point themselves in the right direction, but they have less control on their attack. As I stated in another thread Hunter's Super is less reactive than the other two. A Titan might active their super when things get sticky, boom he rushes forward and destroyed the opposition. Almost the same for a Warlock. Yet for the Hunter they might use their super BEFORE the crap hits the fan. Using it mid fight might not work to your advantage, the enemy might kill you before you can aim your shot. From what little is known of BladeDancer we are to expect Hunter to become a ninja swordsman. What's not to like about that? I don't see Hunters being excluded from anything unless they do so themselves. All the classes will be a force to be reckoned with. I don't think they need a 3rd class to do it.

Shunning? I'm meeting them with opened arms really. I like having a balanced party titan, Warlock and a Hunter.

          • Maybe in your raids, perhaps in others. I for one...don't favor classes, I prefer the person behind the sticks. I'll take my clan on the raids, regardless of which class/subclass/miniclass/over class/ night class whatever they choose. Why? Because I know my people and they know their character. And we'll complete the raid. Or not. Either way, we'll do it on our own merits, not because who played what.

            • Voidwalker and striker are (generally speaking) superior DPS to the hunter considering their AoE abilities, not to mention that the Voidwalker can also apply some brutal DoT abilities with his 'nades and super. I can see hunters being useful for DPS against single targets like bosses though. Anyone who says they're entirely useless is wrong. I'm thinking most raid groups will consist of (although this is liable to change raid-to-raid): 2 Voidwalkers, 1 striker, 1 Sunsinger, 1 defender, and 1 hunter.

              • A Hunter just needs more meat. The Hunter class itself is supposed to be a single-target, high DPS killing machine, but it needs the buffs of a Titan-Defender w/weapons of Light and the shield to give it higher damage and survivability in the raids. I'm not counting the Hunters out, but you guys can't make it on your own, gotta mix it up.
