And it's extremely selfish and entitled of you to say that the raid Bungie designed for those players should cater to your play style.
Pull your head out of your bum. Because you need to shove your foot in your mouth. I'M NOT ASKING THAT BUNGIE CUT DOWN RAID CONTENT SO THAT MOUTH BREATHING MORONS CAN FACE ROLL THROUGH IT. I'M ASKING FOR A MMING FUNCTION SO THAT I CAN PARTICIPATE WHEN I CAN INSTEAD OF HAVING TO RELIVE THE TEDIUM AND DRAMA AND BULL-blam!- OF PLAYING WORLD OF WARCRAFT AGAIN.

  • then don't participate, I want the old school raid with your friends and wipe for 2 months before clearing the boss. I want to have to fight and earn gear, I don't want shit handed to me. I am a gamer and I want a game that doesn't cater to whiners like you.

What I think most ppl not getting is that pick up groups for raids have a massive of chance to fail on raids. Bungie is doing you a favour not letting you get stressed. You can only get loot from this content once a week, how mad will you be once your party disbanded because everyone decided not to play as a team? or you are the only one with a mic and trying to organise everything. Bungie will get much more heat from ppl complaining "the content is too hard you need to scale it down" or "you need to make everyone that join my party have experience, and a mic"; then from this decision. Also with the insertion points its much easier for casual players to organise to continue a raid on another day, instead of trying to smash the content in a long gaming session. With a matchmaking group, you wont be able to do that. Above all that: how hard is to make 5 friends on PSN/Xboxlive and get a group going? You will probably meet some good players when playing strikes. Just add them to your friend list and give a go on the raids.

We all know that bungie is not going to change anything it's way too late for any of that. also if you don't have the time to play the game just don't play the game. it isn't going anywhere.

  • Nah, brah. That tedium and drama and bullshit is the point. Bungie wants Destiny to be like World of Warcraft, specifically in the social elements surrounding raiding. That means taking the good (long lasting cooperative communities) with the bad (the dreaded drama llama). It's not just your preferences against the preferences of some other players. It's your preferences against the explicit design goals of the game creators and the preferences of some other players.
That means taking the good (long lasting cooperative communities)
Pretty sure that would exist even if there was a MMing function for randoms to PUG it. But instead I have to deal with having to schedule my life around a game and either let down five other people or get sidelined from raids if something changes.

Not as healthy a community, I guarantee. Matchmaking makes it easier to be a dick, and easier to be asocial. Both of those consequences are bad for the well being of cooperative communities.

  • Communities thrived in Halo in spite of the game having nothing but MMing.

Really? Looks like this isn't the first time Bungie made a co-op activity with no matchmaking

  • I'm pretty sure we're using different meanings of "communities" and "thrived", here...
