Text chats in mmo's are a breeding ground got trolls and idiots. It would be worse since the game has no monthly fee unless they stayed on top of it with moderators. All female player models would be subject to harassment.. I already saw evidence of this in the beta every time is went to the tower.
Party chat, or muteable voice chat. No public tower text chat.

Forced to use a mic to what? Socialize in the tower? You don't need to socialize in the tower. You use mics for coop raids and missions or pvp. Girls are just as capable as guys of choosing who they play with without turning the tower into a creeper hangout.

If you haven't noticed, merely being female is reason enough to be harassed in videogames. Text chat protects a lot of us from having to reveal our gender. Also, voice chat isn't exempt from being a breeding ground for trolls and idiots, and you're underestimating the amount of potential creeper hangouts in videogames. They're as commonplace as the former. [Edit] I took some extra time to read your comment - please don't act like women have some kind of magical summoning powers capable of 'turning' the Tower into creeper hangouts. Creepers will flock to anything that remotely looks like they own a vagina. We can't help that.
