Hopefully Bungie will watch this and please, think carefully before choosing. Sorry about a "Whatever Bungie Chooses" answer being absent.
Just a simple poll for a hot subject right now.

They should do it like FFXIV no MM for new raid content but the old raid content gets MM
-
It makes no sense for people not to want it. (Other than not wanting Bungie to change their game).
MM in raids is an option, not a requirement.
-
I don't want MM because I don't want them to nerf the raid to cater to the match made people crying because they cannot clear the raid. Which In turn would ruin my gaming experience making the raid easier. I like a challenge and the gratification of overcoming the challenge.

Edited by AbusiveSeagull4: 8/2/2014 7:36:18 PMBREAKING NEWS FOR THOSE AGAINST MATCH MAKING: Whether it exists or not does not directly affect how you choose to play. Please stop crying about how it will "ruin the game." According to Bungie VoG won't be easy, so what makes you think a match made group would be able to pull it off anyways? Just because the game may have match making doesn't mean it will become face roll for the hardcore players who can play on a higher difficulty. Please chill the -blam!- out and take into account that some people have real responsibilities outside of gaming and don't want to work at home or play non-stop just to complete something. Oh yeah, and it's not like finding a group would be that easy currently with the limited chat options.

I don't have a ton of experience with MMO and Raiding and all that, but there is something I do have experience with. Anybody remember the Vidmaster achievements? Imagine trying to complete Vidmaster: Endure with a group you were randomly assigned to. More than likely, you'd fail. Big time. And it wouldn't be any fun to do, either. We all remember the time when we finally got that god-forsaken achievement. We had friends, we fought tooth and nail, it took hours, and it was epic. All of the planning, positioning, being ready for each little twist and turn as it happened, it was awesome. The same could be said for Annual. Oh, there are so many epic stories to be had when it comes to those Vidmasters. Like I said, I've never played actual MMOs before, but I've played Bungie games. And the Raid we DO know about, The Vault of Glass, is said to be the hardest thing Bungie has ever done. Would you want to spend hours upon hours playing that Raid with random players that you may not even be able to talk to? That doesn't sound fun to me. Look, I trust Bungie knows what they're doing. They've outlined why they think it's a good idea, and I understand the reasons. I think what they're doing is right. They're giving us an ultimate challenge to live up to. Those that beat it will be revered, and not everyone will be able to. Look at Firefight in Halo: Reach. Matchmaking, although it sounds like a good idea, ruined it for me. It became a dumbed-down, softcore version of what Firefight should be; Survival. It turned into a "Who could get the most kills with the unlimited ammo Fuel Rod Cannon" playlist. If you want matchmaking, play a Strike. Sure, there's some challenge, but if you're competent and leveled enough, you shouldn't have too many problems. If you want to take it to the next level and really get a chance to go all out, the Raid is there for you. And those are my thoughts on that. Sorry the post is so long, but if you've gotten this far, you're awesome for reading it all. Go team!

I don't mind so I am neutral
-
If they could make it to where you had a choice then I don't see a reason why there shouldn't be MM for raids. A lot of people don't have 5 friends they can just play it with, but I can also see where the hardcore gamers are coming from because they don't wanna have to struggle due to being matched with lower skilled players. So they should should just give us the choice of doing either.
-
I see why bungie wants you to play with ur close friends on raids but if bungie did add matchmaking in raids there must be in game chat only like they do for search and destroy cuz in raids you need good team work

I can see many arguments going around about why matchmaking should be placed into the Destiny Raids. I believe that we should see what the raids are like first and foremost before anything. I'll probably be called entitled or a dumb*** for w.e reason. I clicked against MM. Why? Because I've never played an FPS game without a MM feature in any game mode. I'm curious to see just how tough the raid will really be. Aren't you? So there are requirements....be Level 20 or higher and have a 6 man team. I know that not everyone can sit down and get 5 people online to play with at the same time but just how much effort have you really put into that. The challenge of a raid starts before the game has even launched. I love it. The way I see it yes it doesn't affect me or I can play w.e way I want. But I would love to meet up with my friends online. The game is more fun with your friends. The game was designed around that concept. If you really trust Bungie then let's just wait and see what they dish out on launch. My words probably will bother you and you won't agree but I believe that this game can be as fun as you want it to be. 3-4 hours is a long time for a single run through, I would rather rely on my friends to sit down for that amount of time than to count another person I've never met to stick around until the end. Just my opinion.

For MM as long as the difficulty isn't nerfed to suit teams without the communication or preparation needed to won. The raid needs to be extremely hard, to the extent that finding your own team is recommended even. MM should at least be an option.
-
Against raid match making.
-
I'm against it. I raid in WoW and I fullheartedly agree with their decision. Random people have a bad habit of doing whatever they want and it's detrimental to the group. Forcing communication and raising the learning curve is essential to keeping things difficult. I want to be able to say I worked hard for my gear, not that I had a group of people I don't know carry me to victory.
-
First I was for raid matchmaking until last night when I joined a pug in swtor for DP sm. Out of the 8 of us only 3 of us had actually ran the place before. The other 5 wouldn't listen to us and just went head in and were killed...3 times in a row. If they add a matchmaking system in destiny the same would most likely happen.
swtor=Star Wars: the Old Republic DP=Dread Palace sm=simple mode. Imo DP sm with players who actually know what they are doing is actually quite easy with hard mode being a challenge.
Anyone with experience with raids knows how bad an idea it is to use mm for raids.
-
I think if they really wanna add MM to raids do it the way WoW does LFR. They have the same raid but able to group up with randoms but completely nerf the raid instance, with different gear, and weaker stats, while leaving the original raids with better stats for the more hardcore players.
-
F MM, every MMO player knows it sucks and always end bad.
-
You do not want matchmaking in Raids! The average online gamer does not play cooperatively with other players. You guys have seen this example in Crucible where teams are demolished by a "blobbing" team because the other team members are individually doing their own thing. For seriously challenging game mode, matchmaking is stupid.
-
My play schedule is erratic because of work and kids. I can't imagine an entire raid team working around my schedule.
-
Nothing worse than being in a PVP match and have your team mates leave because things are not going there way. I can see this happening with Raids as well, when it starts to get hard people just leaving mid raid
-
here's a nice pole for that hot topic.
-
There hasn't been a single, rational reason given as to why the option for matchmaking for raids shouldn't exist. Oh, it's hard? Okay, then a group of randoms won't beat it. Big deal. The randoms will find it too hard and Bungie will nerf it? That seems like a very weak argument at best. If that's a serious concern, that some vocal scrubs will cause Bungie to tone down the difficulty, then instead of all these anti-matchmaking posts, perhaps a better alternative would be writing posts that are pro-matchmaking and anti-nerfing. I mean, that is if you guys are so worried Bungie will listen to the community(to which you belong...?).
-
There hasnt been a single rational reason as to why we cant have the option.
-
I am against MM for one reason, "Squeakers". Back in Halo 3, I remember playing all night. When one of your friends decides, it's too late, they have to work tomorrow etc. So 3 of you decide to carry on. Then this great night of Playing with friends turns to poopoo because some turd known as a Squeaker is Matched with your squad...he's not there to win, he's there because he can be. I am anti Squeaker, therefore I am anti MM.
-
Everyone should have the option to use MM or not. MM should be in Destiny. If you are against it do not use it. If the people i met in Destiny/friends are not on and its what ever time of the day or night, I want the option to go MM so I can Raid. Instead of waiting till it is convenient for everyone else. Simple.
-
Against. Stop being afraid of talking to other people and form your own groups for Raids.
