POLL: Raid Matchmaking | For or Against? [BungieWatch]

For Raid MM

1397

Against Raid MM

1707

Hopefully Bungie will watch this and please, think carefully before choosing. Sorry about a "Whatever Bungie Chooses" answer being absent. Just a simple poll for a hot subject right now.

Im against mm if this thing is as hard as they say it is. However, it would be nice to have easier ways to get a group in game rather than random invites/forums. We'll just have to see, not assume

Some people don't have enough friends to play with. Having someone who is useless is still better than not experiencing the content. I don't see how not having matchmade groups will "keep the raid difficulty".

    • Still don't see why they can't do MM, and say -blam!- off for people who think it's too hard. And for those who want to perfect their shit they can do fireteams. Hard? I think not.

    • I'm for it. Only because some people have quirky play times. Personally I never know when I'm going to be able to play. My work schedule absolutely denies me the ability to set aside time to raid. One day I may have hours to play, sometimes I can't turn my xbox on for a week. Give the raid MM prerequisites that ensure the people know how to play the game and are decent at it "Must complete all Strikes in Nightfall difficulty 20 times" for example. If people want to, and are able to, group with friends to take on the raids then more power to them. Let the MM people beat their heads against the wall with random strangers. Who knows? They might make new friends and find a group that works well together and BAM! A new clan is born. The only bad thing that can come from MM raids are whiny people that feel entitled to the content and can't work well as a team. But hopefully that prerequisite will filter them out. And if it doesn't, ignore them. Simple as that. If Bungie does want to appeal to the whiners, create and option to dumb down the difficulty but the loot table changes to the same stuff you get in the Nightfall difficulty strikes. Seems fair, doesn't it?

      • I'm against it for the simple fact that people are too lazy to find others to play with. They want you to be social and meet new people. Also, matchmaking with just lead to more complaining about how hard it is and how people always quit. I don't want raids nerf'd because scrubs can't find a good group to kill anything.

        • I'm for it. But I think they should do like WoW. They should allow it for people who are more casual who still want to experience the content. Obviously these might not be as successful. And they should offer normal, non matchmade raids for more hardcore groups.

Hopefully Bungie places in a hub or hall where regional players at the Tower can migrate to in order to party up if MM isn't added. If not players could always start a movement. Just pick a spot and say any player standing by the crooked tree by the gunsmith is a player looking to play a raid. Sounds silly. But damn what else can a player do when no one is around to match up with? Run around and R3 everyone in the Tower you're at? Probably end up with more reports than actual Interest.

Raid Matchmaking would NOT nerf the raid to appeal to everyone and it will have absolutely no effect on private groups and clans. Bungie said there is a Normal and Hard mode for the Raid's. Normal Raid's could be set for Matchmaking for those that want to get a taste for taking part in Raid's or those that normally play solo or only have a couple of friends on Destiny and need Matchmaking to fill up the rest of their Fireteam or those that simply just just want hop on and play a Raid for 30 minutes or an hour and leave to do something else. Hard Raid's that are nearly impossible to beat would then be there for organized groups and clans with no matchmaking enabled. Hard mode would be for only the most dedicated that want to fail over and over again and invest countless days and weeks trying to complete a single Raid. There's no reason why we can't have both beyond Bungie not wanting to put forth the effort to offer it and enough of the community demanding Matchmaking to be in some portion of the Raid aspect. And OP, if you're going to post a poll worth Bungie looking at, don't be retarded and post a completely bias one sided opinion in regards to the choices available.

6 man raids are no different than 5-6 man heroic dungeons in WoW and/or GW2. Totally doable with MM. Hardest thing they could throw at you are puzzles requiring 6 people to stand in specific locations to avoid a wipe or unlock a door. Adding random people to your friends list just to participate in a small aspect of one game is no different than using MM (just more of a hassle). People that are against MM don't plan to use it anyhow so why are they against it? Makes no sense to me. The way you have fun is totally different from the next person. I say let everyone enjoy the game the way they want. Raid MM doesn't equal to nerfed challenge.

            • Definitely against. If you need to use matchmaking to do a raid then you shouldn't be doing it to begin with. A lot of people here think raids are just another Strike or something like Firefight, something very casual when they are absolutely not meant to be like that.

                • No matchmaking for Raids is completely ridiculous. It won't matter to me personally because I'll have plenty of friends to play with, but damn Bungie, you're making harder and harder to play this game. First a 3 man cap on fireteams, even in explore mode, and now this. I just don't get it. Makes absolutely no sense to me. I would rather have matchmaking and attempt to complete a Raid and enjoy trying and fail, than not even have the chance. Just give us the choice. If you don't want to get stuck with randoms, you're going to go out and get a team together anyway. My 2 cents...

                • We need MM for raids just like we have for strikes. Not everyone will have 5 other friends to run a raid, with. We all need the option to go Premade or MM, period.

                  • Coming from an MMO background I can say that having PUGs run through certain endgame challenges is akin to pulling teeth. I welcome the absence of Raid Matchmaking for endgame content that hasn't been nerfed. It negates having spent 30 mins to an hour in queue only to die within seconds cause you have people who are inexperienced/undergeared and simply cannot keep up with dps races or defense reqs.

FPS people having problems making friends in an online enviroment and adapting to game mechanics, big surprise there.

                  • I play World of Warcraft, and on WoW there is something called Looking for Raid. This version of the raid is so toned down that you can literally focus the boss the entire time and win, but random groups STILL have trouble downing bosses. This is 25 people, where every person contributes a smaller part in the raid. Imagine this with 6 people, where everyone has a larger role. A couple of bad people would ruin the raid completely, and make everyone frustrated. End-game raids are best saved for coordinated groups. Not only will you have a greater chance at success, but you will also have a better time playing with people you know.

                    • I'm all for it as a choice. Some disclaimers though: *It really depends on whether or not Destiny will have difficulty settings for raids. *It should be the lowest difficulty setting only, or atleast until Bungie has had time to evalulate the results. *The possible - and perhaps also inevitible - MM raid tweaks should not affect "manual raids". Swtor has bolster for Group finder, which doesnt affect manually organized raids. The latter shouldnt be playing on the story mode setting anyway...... but nonetheless. *In the event that they do implement raid MM it's crucial that it comes with open chat but at that point they might aswell just give us the chat options to manually organize in-world pugs instead. Additionally: *I don't think this poll is representing the community as whole. I think it's more likely that MMO'ers, who are used to not having ideal MM alternatives (mostly due to lack of trinity roles in the queue), are more likely to share their opinion than console gamers, who are used to MM but at this point arent fully aware what raids are or if they're even interested in running them. Hence, if the poll had been taken back when destiny was first announced and the site only contained Halo players I think it would have been close to 100 % in favor of it. *The real issue here is the game's lack of social options (as an option). If there had been text, instance - or proximity chat we wouldnt have had this problem because it would have been easy to organize these raids.

Why should hard be disabled for the guys doing raids by way of MM? Because you and eveyrone else who's taking that stance on the subject is a -blam!-ing idiot. Please shut your mouth, and keep your opinions to yourself. I mean really, you have to be some kind of lame worthless, p.o.s. to even take offense at randoms.... deciding they want to attempt HARD content with other randoms. QUIT TRYING TO DICTATE HOW OTHER PEOPLE SHOULD PLAY A GAME YOU -blam!-ING ASSHOLES! This is the same as all the idiots fighting against a Pilot Only Playlist for Titanfall. You don't have to use that system. IF you want to do raids with your friends.. THEN GO -blam!-ING DO IT! But don't -blam!-ing limit the options of other players. Otherwise, I'm gonna tell you straight... GO -blam!- YOURSELVES! Oh... we can't let randoms play custom games. Because if we did that, then every custom game I'd like to play would be infested by randoms..... Same retardedness. You people assume, that just because an option exists. That you are forced to use that option. GET A -blam!-ING CLUE AND SHUT THE F.U.C.K. UP. GET A -blam!-ING CLUE BEFORE YOU PUT FORTH AN OPINION! Because all I see are assholes opening their mouths, with the intention of trying to limit the options of other players. I mean, if they had MM raids. Would you sit there all day thinking about all the randoms trying to attempt the raid? Getting pissed off, that randoms are raiding? And they didn't spam invites on a forum to do so? Would it piss you off just thinking about it? Even though, you're not actually witnessing any of it or forced to be a part of their raiding group. Just the thought, that it's happening apparently is enough for you people to open that mouth of yours. Well I'm about stick my digital dick in it. If you continue to keep it open.

What this comes down to is this. Some people are asking for more options. Others, are fighting against having more options. AGAIN.. SHUT YOUR -blam!-ING FACE! And keep your opinions to yourself when your opinion is nothing more than you being a selfish prick towards a portion of the community that may not have the same "resources" as you do. And you know what? I hate matchmaking in general. But, I'm not a big enough asshole like you people to deny those players out there, that do like it or need it. I'm all for giving every individual all the options they need to be able to enjoy themselves. So long as those options do not interfere with another individuals options. What are you for? Yourself and trying to dictate to other people how they should play a game even though the way they want to play would have no effect on the way you want to play. I mean, you are actually going out of your way, to make it look like this MM Raid option would actually affect you in any way. It's like being white and taking offense at the N word. You are idiots.

                          • Im for it. I want to have the option to raid when its convienent for me, not when its convienent for me +5 others. As a WOW Vet, scheduling raids and setting raids up can become a burden after awhile. Especially if something unexpected comes up. IMO-If im a high level guardian 25+, i should have instant MM access to all of Destinys content thats on my disc the second i decide on something to play.
