What mic should I get?

I've never been a fan of talking online when I play games. I usually just do my own thing and have my own fun. However, ever since the beta I had joined a clan in Destiny, met some pretty cool guys to play games with, and since Destiny demands communication, I think I'm ready to invest money in a proper headset. Currently I've been using just my normal Klipsch S4i headphones to communicate, but every now and then it would disrupt the connection between the console and the controller. My main caveat is that I just don't like over ear or on ear headphones, and therefore headsets like that. I just can't find any gaming headsets that are not huge or feel bulky like that. I don't like having that big band around my head and the cushion on my ears. I prefer in ear headphones all the time, or earbuds. So any suggestions? I use a PS4. Thanks!

  • Or you could just buy a regular mic. That doesn't break in the first month

    • If you don't like the over the ear ones that go over your head, you probably want a simple Bluetooth earpiece from Sony. I highly suggest trying a set of Wireless Sony Gold Headset for PS3/PA4 before discounting the big overhead bands altogether. I love that headset and they run from 70-90 on amazon.

I've got the Astro A40's, and they are phenomenal. I would highly recommend them to anybody. I picked the A40 over A50 because I didn't want to deal with having to charge wireless, and I didn't want to risk having reception issues, although I haven't really heard of people having those issues with A50's. The A40 sound quality is simply one of the best. The A40 bass is on another level from any other headset. The A40 is over the ear, but the design is impeccable. You can wear them as many hours as you want, and your ears/head never get sore. They rest on all the right places and are brilliantly cushioned. I can't speak any higher of them.

      • I have the Playstation bluetooth earpiece. It's okay, especially for the price (around €40-$40). They get a bit uncomfortable after a while. The thing is that the earpiece only outputs chat, which is good for isolation, but bad for your other gaming sounds. I miss good gaming surround sound now, that's why I want to upgrade to the Playstation Gold Wireless headset or the Playstation Pulse Headset. Can anybody recommend any of the two?

        • Depends on what you want to spend. If you have the budget for it the Astro line if head sets are awesome. They all have enough volume that you can also wear them around your neck if the over ear bothers you.

Asto A50 ear fits inside. so its not resting on the ears... same with the Turtle beach. they also have the noise reduction (wife canceling technology) to them.

        • I just bought the Gold Wirless headset. It's nice. I got it off Amazon for $78. Everywhere else it's $99. I tried two other USB headsets from off brand companies. That earbud that came with PS4 kept falling out (apparently I have small ears) The first of the USB headsets worked fine, but the switch for the mic broke. As for the second the one it was equally uncomfortable as the bud. I never tried Turtle Beach, but they were more expensive so I skipped them. So far the Gold works just fine and I can even use them for my PC and Kindle.

          • Just buy the PS4 gold headset. It works on your PS4 as well as anything with a standard audio jack. If you're looking for something on the less expensive side I would go for the Tritton Kama Stereo Headset, it's on sale at gamestop for 25$ atm, and works on both PS4 and Vita.

          • If you have a PS4, I would recommend using PlayStation's Gold Wireless headset. Another good one is the Afterglow wireless headset that is compatible with the PS4.

            • Get a headset for your computer, use a 3rd party progam to chat with people. The quality in game is gross and sounds like poop inside an aluminum tube while vibrating.
