My choice isn't listed in the poll...but I think girls who play video games are...
Video game players. Same as males who play. There's nothing different aside from she has breasts and a uterus. As soon as the majority of males realize they have every bit as much a right to enjoy gaming as them...the video gaming community as a whole will be a better place. But alas, that's the pipe dream of an old man.

Well, my thread here is coming from the experience or standing by whilst men degrade women who play video games, and I can't defend them all. There is indeed a difference, because you would treat a woman in a video game the same way you would in real life. I would call a woman beautiful all the same as I do in reality. The level of respect is the same. Now, I'm not saying there's a difference between the reason for and the enjoyment of partaking in video games, but what I am saying is they deserve the exact same respect they deserve outside the video game, there [i]should[/i] be no difference in that. All I see usually is people putting down and ganging up on women, verbally abusing them. I'm just here to share the love, to help some see that we're not all assholes in this vast gaming community. I could go on forever, but women are different and should not be treated any less or more in some cases, but do still deserve that respect.

Pedophiles and murderers should b ridiculed) But to assume the roll of shining knight protecting some fair maiden who is too delicate to speak for themselves is just as sexist as the assholes who abuse girls online. BTW my girlfriend is a gamer so don't get me confused with someone telling u to mind your own cos I think its acceptable. But suck ups like you trying to get a sniff at some cyber pussy is just despicable.

Well, you are completely correct. I am a prick. But it is no less than predictable that u would respond in such a way. I brought light to your hypocritical paradox in which u found yourself and feel your pride motive and intellect has been challenged. With no leg to stand on u lash out, I understand and apologize for that, but fact is fact. As for your trying to get some credit with the ladies for self gain, might have been speculation. But hey, you learn to spot these things quite accurately when u witness these acts on a daily basis bro. Tell me this. Any post here by a girl has been received with with far too much concern and care to b genuine. Not saying girls shouldn't b spoken to in a respectful manner, but ass kissingly respectful is a sing of ulterior (and sometimes) subconscious agenda. I bet u any girl that posted here revived no less than one friend invite based on her gender or because he received a courtesy reply. We are creatures of habit and that is what makes human nature so predictable even when u cannot see it in yourself ;)

I come from the school of thought that 90% of women can handle themselves. You're ideal of wanting to "protect" girl gamers? Guess what...that demeans and belittles them far more then any "get in the kitchen" joke. Because you're in essence saying they're frail, fragile and can't protect OR defend themselves. Which is far from true. I happen to know and play games with several female gamers. And each one of them can hold their own, if not outright embarrass any guy who chooses to harass them. There's far worse insults a woman can throw at a man then a man can throw at a woman. Why else do you think the ONLY joke most guys come up with is the kitchen one? Or calling a female gamer a whore, or ugly, or any other childish insult they usually come up with. Are you so passionate about standing up for say, a Black gamer who's being harassed? Doubtful. Or how about a gamer from another country who doesn't speak good English? Again...doubt. Your subjective train of thought is every bit as toxic as the train of thought perpetuated by the weak minded males who feel the need to belittle and berate a female gamer simply because she's of the opposite gender. Your ideal is merely on the other end of the same spectrum...a spectrum that wholesale doesn't help them. A female gamer is no different then a male gamer. Or a Black male/female gamer. Or a foreign male/female gamer. The fact of the matter is when we...the gaming community remove the label in front of the word gamer when addressing groups...and just call and consider ourselves GAMERS period...it might result to one less stigma society holds against us. Food for thought.
