[6,800+ Want] Planetary Events (Defense/Attack Events)

NOTE: I gave up on this game like four months ago, if you see no more updates on this forum, you know why, lol. Bungie, please read! The community has spoken! Since Destiny will be spanning throughout the Solar System on a variety of Moons, Planets and other Space locations, a Planetary Event could focus all of a Guardians on one planet as an effort to halt the Darkness from progressing further through the Solar System. For example, if a Planetary Event happens from Friday to Sunday, and the Cabal start a raid at a specific location on any of the planets, all players will recieve a notification from the Vanguards that any of the locations in Destiny are currently under an invasion and that they are needed immediately. These events would award players with a range of loot, depending on how much work and effort they put into the event. These events may also act like Darkness Zones, heavily relying on teamwork, since you will have to revive your fellow Guardians. The Defense Events would contain a series of objectives that would need to be completed in order for the invasion to be halted. For the weekend the event takes place, constant waves of enemy ships would drop off troops on the surface of a location. Players would be able to join in the event at any moment during the hours it is active, so they are not forced to arrive at a specific time. In order to be successful, the players must hold off a several waves of enemies while defending targets from them. The Defense Event would most likely take the group of people between 20 and 30 minutes each time they are in patrol mode, before the enemy would stop advancing. Several other objectives may occur while fighting in these events such as killing certain bosses or destroying equipment, but would be randomized to make sure that each of the experiences are unique. Once the areas are defended and the waves of enemies are fended off, you will be notified at the event of YOUR victory on halting there invasion, earning you rewards for your duties. However, if you fail to do so, whether it was to protect the objectives from the enemies or the players are eliminated by the enemies, the area will be invaded by that species at the end of the event depending on the results, making it far more dangerous than it was before. The area will have an increased amount of enemies for a limited amount of days, presumably a week at max, making it more difficult to travel around that part of the map alone. While the enemies are in possession of that area, their levels will NOT be higher at all. The main and only change at that location is the problem of having to fight a substantial amount of enemies for the limited amount of time. Once the last day the event is active has reached an end, the results would be determined by checking the percentage of successes and failures that happened throughout Destiny. (The limited amount of time the enemies stay around that area can maybe be influenced on how bad the failure percentage was in comparison to the success percentage.) As the event reaches the end of its limit, you'll either recieve another notification from the Vanguards of the current status of the mission, or you will receive a message from the Ghost telling you the outcome. It would be very important for the Destiny community to work together to stop the attack, otherwise it will make it more difficult when you go back to that area. After the one week passes, another event could appear for a battle to take back the area. This would allow the Guardians to play the offensive side of the battle this time. During an Attack Event, you would do the opposite of the Defense Event. Instead of defending points from the enemies, you would have to capture points from the enemies. After the points are taken, the remaining enemies would have to be eliminated, with a boss battle soon after they are killed. Once the boss is destroyed, the area is finally yours again. When the players succeed in taking back the area, things will revert to their original state, but if the Guardians fail to take back the area, it will remain as the enemies' territory. We would have to wait another week before we get a second chance to take back the area again. If the player has not unlocked access to all of the locations within Destiny, they can only partake in the locations they currently have. Knowing this, players would feel excited and encouraged to finish the campaign. When all locations are finally unlocked, this would ensure that the player will never miss an experience at this scale. Please tell me what you think of the idea down in the comments section and if you like it, please type "bump" and share! The more the word gets out, the more support we can get on this idea! Also, it increases our chances of DeeJ and Bungie seeing this post! :D Holy fudoodles, over 6,800 agreements! Whoot whoot! Thanks for all the support everyone! :D. Gracias! Por el apoyo.

        • This has been brought up before, seems like this should be the next thing they put into the game, one person mentioned making a event back at the tower, the place where the last stand is, everyone gets a notification from someone back at the tower, saying endless waves of enemies are approaching the tower, everyone in that server teleports back to the tower and prepares for battle, once the timer counts down there will be random portals that will open and ships that will appear and drop off in waves, this should be like a 1 hour event of just endless waves of all different types of enemies and you have to protect the people of the tower, or little mini towers that are charging to build up a shield over the tower and the city to protect us from the invasion.

                          • I love the idea. I only really have a few concerns, that may have already been addressed. 1. For new players joining the game, these events would seriously impede progress through normal areas, since missions, strikes, etc. Are incorporated through the map as a whole. For example, let's take Earth off the list since we live there, but what if cabal invaded the moon? I've seen new players (not Alts) at as low as level 5 on the moon. An influx of a deadly species like the cabal to a new payer, (not to mention they wouldn't even have found out the cabal existed yet) could seriously impede their progress through the campaign. For example, even if you drop the levels to match moon monster levels, a level 5 would hardly be able to deal with a cabal colossus. 2. Maybe a possible solution to this would be areas not unlocked yet. These vents would only happen in areas outside the campaign. Like for example, King's Watch on earth, and Terminus on Venus. Now, I know these are bad examples, as additional story is already planned, but it wouldn't be the hardest thing in the world to create another area for these types of events. (Not hardest, just time consuming.) For example, let's put earth on the board. Why Russia? Sure, it's big, but maybe they could create some of North America, say a devastated future post-apocalyptic New York City? That would be a fun location for events an the like. Or maybe a severely mutated Amazon Jungle? Or deadly frozen tundras like Antarctica or Greenland? I mean, consider our technological advancements in the game, surely we've found a way to create societies on the ice continent. Even still, maybe add different themed terrain, most of the time in game we either just go over flat land or up small hills and staircases. Or be teleported. Maybe for defensive events, we could protect high points like an advanced base on Mt. Everest. The same could be done for other planets, just create specific lands for these events, and, outside of the events, you could throw in some really nice side storylines, that could reveal more about some of the NPC's, or just inform us on more details of the Great War between the Traveller and the Darkness. 3. I think the invasion idea is awesome. But why use a specific race? Judging by the way the maps are set up and our storyline, we are easily holding the main cabal force on mars, main vex force on Venus, and main Hive force on the moon. (The fallen are already on Earth, Moon, and Venus.) Maybe the Darkness has created a new entity to just eradicate everything? A new race of dark fiends who know no friends nor foes and attack any race besides their own? Just my concerns and inputs ^_^

                                        • Rift had the right idea, and Guild wars 3 fixed it. Do game makers/companies even play other games or do research at all? I Don't for the love of god know why other companies aren't stealing there ideas. Events need to be often and numerous (gw3) as well as have boss spawns via zone raids (rift) and have a reward system not just marks (gw3, rift did it to but they had a mark kind of system gw3 had loot (loots always rewarding) and a mark system)

Bungie would have to figure out a way to stop that from happening. Maybe with a company that works with servers 24/7 and knows everything about them.
