This really irks me. When I'm playing Destiny I can distinctly notice that the game is moving my cursor around. It causes it to slow down and forces it to follow the target a little. I hate that in games. It throws off my throwing knife aim. (Hunter class) It throws off my sniper rifle aim. It throws off my semi-automatic scout rifle aim. It makes the menu more irritating and longer to navigate. I am a good enough player to beat the game just fine without any sort of help with where I'm aiming. When I switched from the PS4 to the PS3 I found the auto-aim to be a bigger problem because of the smaller display size and the less sensitive joysticks. I hate it the most when I'm trying to fight groups of enemies. Perhaps I am aiming at the Dreg behind the shielded Captain. How can the game tell? The aim-assist will then make it harder to look away from the tougher enemy so I can get a shot at the weaker one. It has not caused the death of me, but it throws off my aim enough so that it becomes harder and more irritating to make that shot. I've been playing console shooters for eight years now. I dislike the reduction of control and I dislike how it makes simple things less fun. I don't need help with aiming and I think Bungie should make it an option I can disable. EDIT:
Target Attraction and Target Weight: This is what I was complaining about in Destiny. Target Weight makes your crosshair move at a lower sensitivity when targeting enemies. Target Attraction makes your crosshair follow an enemy when it moves, acting against wherever else you are trying to look.
• I'd like the option to turn it off. I've been killed a couple of times in firefights when my cross hair is dragged off my target when someone runs by.

      • It does nothing for me but get in the way when I am trying to fight through a throng of enemies. Every time I try to scope something it trails off in the first thing it targets.

      • It should be optional IMO. I don't need it, it does annoy me when I'm about to insert a bullet into the Captains dome and a weak ass vandal runs past and my crosshairs follow it instead. I wouldn't remove it as I know there will be casual players who need it.

        • Halo probably had some of the best aim assist in any game and is what put FPS shooters on the map for consoles. The destiny aim assist is clearly drawn from it. The aim assist is almost never noticeable when I play, but I know it helps a lot. A console shooter with poor auto aim just isn't as fun to play. Easy to use controls is a hallmark of bungie. From their superior aim assist to the steering of all the vehicles. Few games could compete with Bungies quality when it came to game controls.

        • Just started Destiny. Haven't played fps since Dark Forces. Aiming was huge problem. Thumb sticks are a bear! I notice absolutely zero assistance. I would have liked a little assist but saw none (ps4 ). Between oversensitivity and kickback from gun my accuracy was abysmal!

        • Some people want / need it, some people don't. I say give us the option to turn it on and off so everyone can make their own choice.

        • They should make ranked mode without auto-aim and for the regulair players let it stay on. Skill is skill this is just no skill new players just get lazy. Let all play without assist and within a month people will learn how to actually play shooters

          • Yes, at least give us the option to turn it off. However, I think Sniper Rifles and past a certain distance aim-assist should be off.

            • I was not playing with aim assist. I did not have any of the problems described. The on/off switch was apparently very difficult to find.

              • I remember seeing the aim assist option in one of the settings pages. It was on or off. Mine was default off.

              • I was extremely annoyed by the aim assist, particularly when I'd gone through the settings and didn't see an option for it. Any serious fps player turns auto-aim/aim-assist off. This has been the case since before we had two joysticks, Golden Eye or Perfect Dark anyone. At the very least there should be an option to turn it off.

              • Yeah its really annoying when there are several targets on the screen and the cursor jumps from the intended to another target that happens to pass by.

              • Scaleable sensitivity from off to whatever we had on the beta would be great. Also separating the tracking from the weight would be superb; i like the target weight, but the tracking can be a pain.

              • i agree specialy the aim-assist while zoomed in with Sniper rifles was retarded it made sniper take NO SKILL, they need to ATLEAST take aim-assist out of scoped in SNiper rifles

                  • Didnt read your whole post, I just wanted to say you had me at "Too much Aim-assist". I dont want to take it away from other players, but I sorely need an option to turn it off for myself. Preferrably the sensitivity-related aim assist that is. As well as an option to deactivate aim-acceleration. but thats another thing.

                  • I was in an interceptor once and did a complete 180 as the aim assist followed an enemy pike dashing by, giving the enemy interceptor full target acquisition of my rear. Needs to be reduced.

                  • Same, I came to destiny from battlefield 4 with a 3.02 k/d I definitely do not need aim assist and i feel IMO that it makes games more noob friendly which is nice to start out, but there should be a setting to adjust how much aim assist you would like, if any. You wouldn't see me using it ever but I can't say the same for other people which is fine but that is my preference.

                  • I wouldn't say remove it completely. Maybe weaken it a tad, and add an option to disable it for all those hardcore fun-killing competitive players out there. I don't know if you've noticed, but the levels and characteristics of aim-assists on different weapons is historically one of the unique things Bungie has done to balance weapons in the Halo franchise. For instance, the sniper rifles in Halo have absolutely no aim-assist when unscoped, which is why it is comparatively so difficult to pull off CQC with them, despite the precise reticle, while weapons like the AR or shotguns perform well at close range.

                  • How about an option to turn off aim assist? I didn't notice it work and I tested the aim at various times and it didn't assist me.

                    • thank you, for doing this I hope it gets noticed. I've tried 2 or 3 threads but I don't have the typing skills for this sh@t. I agree 100% with what you say and I have noticed the way it effects gameplay. the thing is I know bungie is not going to take it out,but I hope they turn it down or something.and the fact that it is in M/P well that's for your O'SO IMPORTANT BULLSH@T K/D
