I believe making the open world feel more "Open" it needs a few things. Add whatever you believe it needs too.
1. Wildlife:
I saw this moments ago and it got me thinking that it would make the world feel more alive.
2. Camps and/or caravans:
Adding machines like the ones from the tower to distribute missions and possibly even make minor trades of some sort possible.
3. Weather:
Changing weather would make the world seem more real and offer a new feel to the combat in roam making it feel more realistic in a way. And preferably regionally appropriate weather.
Edit: the wildlife would not be what we have today but twisted creatures from the hive that look like animals roaming the planets and moons that they inhabit.
And the camps or caravans could have guardians protecting the machines.
Apparently people take these posts as demands for extreme content changes so I'll say this. These are only my ideas for what could be added in the future at some point not for what needs to be done by release.
Please no comments stating that anyone has a bad idea, if you're not being positive you're being a hinderance.

Love it. I think that having lovely, dangerous, exotic wildlife - plants and animals - would enrich the game immensely.

The world is too "static" for my liking. Nothing ever changes, you go to any of the planets or the moon and the enemies are always lined up in the same locations coming out of the same spawns. Think of Witcher, think of Skyrim, or Borderlands.. The enemies have no limits, they can go anywhere and will FOLLOW you anywhere as long as you have their attention. Let's give an example of Destiny's poor AI, you land on earth patrol, you go over to those annoying fallen that seem to always come out from under the stairs, you get their attention and then slowly you back up out of that little area and what do you know, they lose interest.. Well no they don't, they just can't come out of their little space they have been assigned. Let enemies run free over the lands. Why are they restricted to a certain area, I want them patrolling all over. It's a shitty design and that's why we have empty areas.. Take Anal beads as an example, you have those nice beads full of enemies but between each bead, you have those little thin bits that have nothing to offer, ZERO pleasure in those areas.. Put enemies in there. Sheesh

yes, weather would be amazing.
-
Personally I feel it's annoying how if someone leaves the area you won't see them and you can't see everyone in that patrol in the whole are in your roster
-
4. More ACTUAL PLACES to go to, or expanded current locations.
-
The 'open' part.
-
How about a daytime cycle, or did the traveller mess up night time also?
-
We are also missing.. More places on each planet.. Such as being able explore other cities and walk out into large fields and find new paths to explore.
-
The zones only ever fill big for that first visit, then you realize it's another big circle lol. I'd love weather, but I'd rather see the world actually be open first. As it is now it feels like a series of big empty rooms connected by boring hallways.

Edited by JereBear: 10/21/2015 5:57:04 PMI made a post regarding weather like a year ago. It would be soo cool. Massive sand storms on mars that darken the sky amd reduce visibility to a few meters. Snow storms, thunder storms, and varying fogginess in the cosmodrome. Thunderstorms and such on venus. It would add quite a bit of immersion into the game. Also adding nighttime into the planets. And whem I say nightime I don't mean a slightly darker and bluish color pallet. I mean make it actually dark outside and require your ghost to turn on the light to be able to see better. It doesn't have to be pitch black but I am personally tired of "night times" in video games that barely even make it darker.
-
Also, hookers
-
+1 for changing weather. If it were to rain, it'd be cool to see some splash, rain drops, on the visor.
-
Don't forget traffic cones.
-
Imagine dark clouds and thunderstorms in the cosmodrome, or even on venus. The vex could be altered by the storms and grow stronger.
-
Crows in the cosmodrome, dragon flies as well as dragons on Venus. So far these are the only wildlife I've seen in the game.
-
Bump!!
-
Hell just some basic stuff like mobs moving around the map and spawning in different locations with varying group compositions would be a World-Building 101 start. Let's not get ahead of ourselves or overly ambitious.
-
It's been over a year and I still agree you keep doing your thing.

Bungie needs to hire an advisor from a successful mmo, they made a good shooter but they don't know how to do mmo yet as all the many mistakes point out

Edited by Xanzuss: 10/15/2015 10:11:07 PMYou make good points. It's just seems if it's going to cost bungievision to cough up any extra funds you might as well forget it unless it's going to bring in a ton of money for them. The community as a whole hash out a lot of great ideas but if it's not microtransaction to buy bullshit emotes that they seemed to copy from Dark Souls then you can forget it because they rarely listen to the community anyway. They might not even see or care to respond to your post. I apologies for being so negative but those bastards get on my nerves at times with the lies and other crap they come up with. Guess it's more important to be able see a damn sword on your back than trying to fix the overall experience and issues with PvP and PvE. Just saying.

I want to walk through the woods! Build a camp fire, and roast the critters I shot! Of course some of them might be a little tough to chew on.

Edited by fearme4IMdeth: 10/15/2015 3:06:00 AMWhat open world? You mean the aquarium we play in as if we were fish? As soon as we try to grab the shiny object outside were instantly deflected by some sort invisible force field? Or we jump up too far and it's suddenly as if we can't breathe and have 5 seconds to live or get back to our meaningless existence, always contemplating what life would be like if we could just for 10 minutes know the world beyond the suffocating boundaries of another's creation? You mean that open world?
