Have you ever played WoW? Trading is a core element to any MMORPG. Without it, it would take too much time farming. There would also be no use for excellent non-class gear. If I'm a Titan with a super rare Hunter head piece, I'd get a lot more selling than from dismantling. Think about it. And trading is useless in BL. The drop goes to anyone

  • I can't link to this, but I'm sure someone else can. Bungie has said that if you are a titan, you will only get titan loot. All guns are universal, but you will only receive armor that you can use.

  • Regardless, without trading, if me and a friend, same class, end up killing a boss or whatever that drops loot, and he gets a fun type I use and vice versa, then what was the point? Maybe I like pulse rifles more and he gets a pulse rifle drop when I get a auto rifle. The point is why limit yourself?

  • In that case, just run it again if it's that important to you. It is a game, and your scenario would just make you run out of things to do faster.

  • I'm just not trying to do the same thing over and over to get the drop I need. A lot of times, particular drops are hard to get. Less than 10% at most. It's not like I can just run it again and get it. And if you end up running a dungeon again and again, chances are you'll level up and miss out on story based questing for particular levels. You'll miss out on experience, not the quest itself.

  • I was assuming you were talking endgame, because if you can still level up, you'll end up replacing that drop anyway. Plus, if you're worried about missing story elements then don't worry about the drops and just play to have fun. Stressing over gear can wait until you hit the level cap. And as for the low drop rates for specific items (again, at endgame), it's like that in literally every other game. Unless you want a boss that drops the same gloves every time, that's how it'll stay.

  • I understand that. I think you're missing the point. Trading will shorten those times. It'll take a chunk of time to get to the end-game and not everybody can dedicate their lives to this stuff. Trading just helps people out. I don't understand why people want to take out such a core element to a game. Look at WoW. The Auction House is the economy of WoW and trading is inherent with that kind of market. It is a crucial element if they want people to keep playing the game. If all loot is personal, people will get frustrated/hopeless. Expand the game, don't restrict the game.

  • The 2 problems for you are that bungie has said over and over that they want your gear to tell a story, and that games don't need economies. I won't go into the first one because it's all been said before. But I don't understand why everyone seems to want to make destiny into a fps version of wow. I get that wow was and is hugely popular, and I played it. But as destiny is now, all trades would do is make the stores pointless. Because if I can buy a specific gun on an auction, why would I ever visit the gunsmith again? I mean, he only sells 6 guns every few hours. Plus, does anyone even know what the 'special orders' store does? Because for all I know it could be something that helps you get the guns you prefer to use instead of being stuck with your drops.

You won't be buying high level guns from the gunsmith. That's noobish to think you can just buy anything you want. It wouldn't come cheap trading. You'd need to put time into the game in different aspects to even afford that kind of stuff. And yeah, they should strive for an FPS version of WoW. If it's not apparent already. Clearly there are similarities. Obviously it won't be WoW but they are using the best features from it. The AH is one of those features.

  • The gunsmith comment I made was because you were talking about mid level strikes and missions, not top level. And if you're gonna 'put time in' to earn the glimmer to trade, you may as well just farm the drop. Which is something that people do in wow all the time. And no, destiny should not, and will not be wow with guns. Wow is fun and all, but this is a different game. If you want to play wow, play wow. If you want to play a game other than wow, make it different. Half the point and appeal of destiny is that it's something that hasn't been done before. And trying to make it like something else ruins that.

  • it does not need to be a fps version of wow because wow is outdated and old but the core ideas can clearly come from it and any game what is by the players for the players to have fun in a economies in games what is 1 of the many things ingame what makes the game go and you're clearly closed minded with the many other cry babies what does not want trade system and can not see how players what are either coming from wow or other games can see what destiny can form into if its taken care of correctly and ran correctly ingame and out of the game, and without a trade system that would be 1 of the many fatal shots what would ruin destiny, it would be like a demonoid effect because there always 2 types of a demonoid effect 1 what ends out the correct path for game and the other what make the game shut down in the end term so far in my eyes it has gone the correct path to fine turn trade system and if they decide not to add it will start turning to the wrong side what they truly do not want at all.

  • Like I said, I used to play wow. And I really don't want this to turn into name calling, but I believe that if the standard is to have trading in games (and that is certainly the standard), then wanting it to be different is not closed minded, wanting it to stay the same is. And I can't really comment on the rest of that, because I've never heard of demomoid.

  • I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure the loot system in Destiny will keep all class specific items dropped to only that persons class. Ie, Titans can only be dropped Titan head pieces. Also, I use the trading menu in borderlands 2. Me and my friend will trade dollars most of the time. Just 1 dollar.
