I love the day night cycle , but it think Bungee missed a trick with the night time.
Imagine the sense of foreboding as you see the sun setting, knowing that the higher level Hive masters are going to be out in numbers, and that the darkness will cover the land making visibility limited without your ghost light.
Will you survive the night or succumb to the darkness....

Edited by HankTheYank27: 7/24/2014 4:53:47 PMBungie did mention how enemy troops are effected by the time of day... With that said, the Hive should be stronger at night (kinda like vampire zombies?) and it should be... well... darker! I do like the northern lights though, it reminds me of Skyrim!
-
I really like this idea. It would bring the intensity level through the roof!
-
I agree but I would also like the fallen to become more aggressive, maybe change behavior completely. During the day the run and hide when fired upon. Night time should be like smacking a stick on a bee hive. Also, as said many time in ALPHA and BETA toggle flash light, but also have the light effect the spawns. Like a moth to a flame.
-
I totally agree, this is a great idea. Though I don't think all enemies should get a lvl boost, I just think that higher lvl enemies just spawn in pockets of the map and then leave when it's dawn. If they decide to implement this idea it should only be in the Exploration mode and not in the story or strike missions - those have enough challenges as it is. I also think it would be cool to have night time and day time exclusive events in the exploration mode, assuming that there aren't already. At the moment events just seem to happen at random intervals.

Wow, i think that that this and the beards are are the best ideas around...i hope bungie will read this

I like the idea mentioned of cosmic events. New moons will be a less frequent challenge opportunity where more darkness enemies come out. Just making it darker is A. Not natural as the moon and stars can provide a good amount of lighting and B. Bungie clearly went all out for their skyboxes. I'd hate to see the night sky go from a beautiful scene to bland darkness. Maybe weather effects along with moon phases? Late night thunderstorm creates flashing brief amounts of improved visibility in an otherwise blacked out sky? This would allow the artistry to continue AND improve game immersion. I don't know how feasible that is from a programming perspective though. Just think it'd be a more modern way in gaming to create atmospheric tension while promoting better visuals and immersion. :)

If they did this night vision or thermal scopes sure would be handy...
-
Yes definately
-
Me nd my cousin had the same idea bungie plz do
-
I don't think they should do this everywhere. The beta is on earth, I like the way that works. But your idea would be awesome on the dark side of the moon : )

-
Not only should it be darker and scarier. They should make roaming in the dark such as in old russia more violent and breath taking as playing in pure dark is more of a discplinary action, make ambushes of unseen enemies etc.
-
Edited by pogokitten: 7/24/2014 7:28:00 PMYeah, scarier nights. Agreed. BOO! Holy Shizuoka no freak no keep them how they are! Lol. I do agree they need to be darker though.

"Imagine the sense of foreboding as you see the sun setting, knowing that the higher level Hive masters are going to be out in numbers, and that the darkness will cover the land making visibility limited without your ghost light." And then you press back, hold a button and then reappear in orbit. Whats the point then?

Totally agree!

I was playing explore yesterday in the area with the rusted helicopters and crashed Hive ship and an all out war between the two factions broke out. It seemed like endless waves of major and ultra mobs from each side and a few of us guardians got stuck in the middle of it. It was fantastic, tons of mayhem and loot drops. It happened during a night cycle and the mobs returned to normal once the sun was back up. So maybe there are already instances that are tied to the day/night cycle, but are infrequent enough to feel like a rare event?
-
Agreeeeeeeeed. Fallen should slink back into the caves and Hive should roam the night. On a side note: some wildlife wouldn't go astray.
-
I'll go for it, as long as we leave PvP night time alone.
-
I like the idea of it but what I really want is for different weather conditions to last as long as when it's daylight. I always feel like when it rains or gets dark it only last a little while. It should last as long as daylight.
-
I think the warsats should drop at night.
-
Agreed!
-
Like Stave dark!!
-
Add a little horror in the mix, sounds good
-
Definitely a great idea! When it gets dark, certain locations or maps should intensify by different means. Maybe one map in the day could me calm and at night gets really eerie and gains shock value. Another map could gain tons of action. And then another map in the day could be really epic all out war and then night falls and just gets really calm and scenic with the remnants of battle laying around and the stars coming out. It would help with insight that there's a lot going on in the world. All with a good day and night cycle. Just a thought.
-
Agreed. This would make change of time more exciting. :)

This ain't minecraft.
