Hand cannons require more skill than other primary weapons. If you can consistently land head shots, the hand cannon is just as good if not better than other primaries.
The problem i have is that you can't land criticals through shields, which makes hand cannons worse against shielded enemies and makes other primaries much better due to a higher volume of damage.

another problem the hand cannon has is it can only kill between 5 and 7 enemies maximum depending on mag size even with all headshots before you need to reload them and they have the slowest reload time on average of all the primaries making them less effective against large numbers of enemies.
