You do get a reward for completing the Strike. Isn't that similar to Sepkis dropping loot?
Also, I remember some pre-alpha footage (E3, maybe?) where there was a gameplay and a boss "dropped" a weapon. Perhaps it will happen in later boss fights?

I think it would be better if the boss drops the loot immediately, as seen in the E3 2013 demo (Rixis).
