Business, my friend. The publisher usually calls the shots when it comes to exclusive content, so I'm guessing Sony was just willing to spend more money than Microsoft.

I'm sure the Japanese based company is heavily banking on the fact that the western developer already has a strong, dedicated following. I'm sure that made their decision to back them a little easier.
