Champions Of The Dark?
So, the Acheivement list is out. Mostly normal stuff, but the one that interests me is this:

So first of all, The Darkness IS a thing in game and is not just referring to your dying or the alien forces or something. Sort of hard to have a champion if there is nothing to champion FOR after all.
Secondly, what IS a Champion Of The Dark? Is it a mere normal boss like Sepkis Prime? No, I don't think so. If I had to guess a Champion Of The Dark is something more... sinister. There were a few cards in the Grimore labeled Darkness... could this category refer to these dark champions.
You can be assured I will be attempting to do a in depth study of The Darkness and it's Champions come Beta if possible. To best our foe we must KNOW it.

[b]The following is 100% pure speculation based upon other video games, achievements and MMORPG experience. [/b] Most likely "a champion of The Dark" is a particular nasty type of named enemy that can be found in mid to high level patrol encounters or perhaps strike/raid as an optional boss or challenge. I was immediately reminded of the achievement in, I think it was Halo: Reach, which you got for killing a Champion Covenant Elite before he escaped near the end of the game. Another possibility from a MMORPG point of view (I know Destiny isn't an MMO by definition). In open world areas MMOs often have giant enemies or world bosses, which require upwards of forty people to kill. Guild Wars 2 for example, many zones had a series of events which chained together ending in a battle with a legendary level boss fight. I guess it is possible it could be part of the story campaign. But I find it unlike they would only have one achievement for the entire story mode or withhold the story mode achievements to prevent spoilers and let the final boss achievement slip through.

My money is on it being the final boss in campaign.

yeah but that's a raid.. so it would seem redundant unless (and if this is an indication that'd be suhweet) there are plural raids otherwise.. there's already a raid completion achievement. secondly is the fact that is says.. .A rather than THE champion of the dark.. of course it could be referring to that in the grand 10 year multiple game sense it's just one of the champions of the dark.. but due to the fact that its an achievement for this game specifically.. it could suggest that there is more than one champion? which would again suggest it might not be the raid boss.. (because again we already have a raid completion award) unless only the vault of glass (and there would have to be multiple raids) has a champion of the dark for it's boss..but the wording still suggests plural... "feel inside, and stuff like that... open up the lids...."

Perhaps the Champion of the dark refers to the completion of the campaign. I do not remember seeing an achievement for completing the campaign. The champion of the dark could be the final boss battle in which you complete the game. But who knows...

Reminds me of a nobody from Kingdom Hearts, what if at the end, you had to fight yourself? What if you had to face a team of dark A.I. that matched your fire team in the vault of glass? Finally get in, look upon the glass only to see the darkness festering in all of you on the other side of the pane only to have shattered it, releasing the darkness upon yourselves? Unlikely and I am just letting my mind and fingers flow crazily here, but that would be pretty epic in my opinion.

The Hive's goal is to throw the Universe back into Darkness... So I'm imagining like a huge undead alien dragon as a Raid boss. That could be really epic.

I expect the Champion to be sort of like sepkis prime. Something that embodies and exudes darkness but on a much larger scale. Either a Campaign or Raid Boss, though I reckon the former is more likely.

I like how it says Dragon slayer then champion of the dark. Makes me think of reptilians. Lol I wonder what they look like. Are they huge, or normal size like us but strong AF. I like fighting against normal sized or medium sized bosses that are strong as shit and have more unpredictable movement rather than a huge slow boss with timed cannons and 30+ mins of health to work through.
