That is a terrible mindset to have. I love the man's work but we shouldn't just excuse games that are bad/mediocre just because they take a lot of time and effort. Otherwise we'd see stagnation in the industry (more than there already is, at least).
Gamers are already very unnecessarily accepting of things. Look at the OG Xbone policies; we stood up and said 'No, we will not accept this.' And the policies changed. People complain about microtransactions/Day 1 DLC, etc., but these wouldn't be issues if we didn't continually accept crap from these devs/publishers.

Like I said, some bullshit, like the One's policies and day-one DLC, are very much worth opposing. Inconsequential things like minor graphical downgrades that affect absolutely nothing else and may make some other things better (amount of content: you can have more in a worse-looking game), that sort of minor downgrade making people cancel preorders is just bullshit.

The Watch_Dogs downgrade definitely wasn't minor if you look at the OG footage and released game side-by-side (wind was toned down, less effects like cans/smoke blowing in the wind and tessellation, and the lighting by far took the biggest hit), but I'll agree that the reactions were absolutely stupid and people canceling pre-orders was just ridiculous. The games has many more pressing issues to be discussed.
