I'm sure a lot of people are in the same boat as me. I'm horribly ignorant when it comes to buying a car. I don't know what determines if the car is a good price, a fair deal, or even in good condition.
What do you look for in a car before you consider buying it? Share your tips.

Know your budget and your ability to finance. Understand what you need. Mileage? Seating? Cargo? Short commutes? Long road trips? Those two questions will set your price range and help determine the type of vehicle, and that narrows things down a lot. Deciding if (or how much) "style, performance and appearance" matter to you is a last consideration, but that is usually the one that ends up conflicting with the budget.
