6th sub thread Last post by Windom
There appears to simply be wood around those areas.
My response:
Look around be room for any other areas that may have a clue.
EDIT: Evidence hired Mr. Cutler to prosecute. The victim, Mr. Cillian Wess, was found dead behind his house at 2:08 AM. The cause was a vicious stab wound through the neck. The murder weapon, a bloody sword, was found there, engraved with the initials D.O, along with a torn piece of clothing from your friend's shirt. The tear lines up with what he was found in this morning.
Evidence Folder
Scrap of fabric --A torn piece of fabric found in Desmond's room. Appears to be the same kind of fabric as the bedsheet. Obtained from Anna. Bloody note --A scrap of paper with "RE" written on it in blood. Found in Cillian's sitting room. Dropped from Prosecutor Cutler's pocket. Broken lock --A lock broken from the outside. Discovered on a window in Cillian's attic. Found by Anna. Blood splatter --Found underneath a box in Cillian's attic, to the right of the stairs. Relatively small. A tiny piece of bloody white cloth was found near the edge. The box on top of it has blood on its edge. Tiny strands of white cloth were found on this blood. She exclaims. "Here! My theory: the killer saw you somehow and followed you to the inn! Then, he waited for you to fall asleep and picked Mr. Onassè's lock and stole his sword. Then-" she gasps, revealing a broad smile. "Then he cut a piece of Mr. Onassè's shirt to plant as phony evidence, but he must have cut too deep! That's how I found this scrap of fabric! It's the same kind of fabric as the bedsheet, remember?" She takes a few breaths. "And then," she continues, "the killer must've snuck into the victim's house through the attic window, resulting in the broken lock. That might have been when he injured himself, which caused the blood splatter. He then went downstairs and saw the victim sitting on the deck, stabbing him. Then he must've broke the fence to create a fake entry point and distributed the fake evidence amongst the crime scene. Lastly, he escaped the same way he entered - through the attic! The victim had enough time to write the bloody note "RE" before he died...did he know the killer's name? That part, I'm foggy on." She smiles up at you. "So, what do you think?"
Last post:
"Your client has murdered a king. That's been proven. I have no wish to see you flounder around in this courtroom, extending a clear-cut trial into a witch hunt." He smirks. "Everyone is calling for an execution. You plead guilty, and I won't pursue a capital verdict."
My response:
BTW I don't know anything law related so if you could help me out that would be great
"No thanks, I think we will be fine, Mr. Cutler." Court Stuff:
Kalidcay Cutler Examination

Kaldicay approaches the stand, smoking a cigarette. "Uh, sir," the judge says. "There's no smoking in here." Kaldicay gives the judge a glare and takes a long drag. "Oh, um...very well," the judge says. "Mr. Cutler, you may begin." "Witness, name and occupation," Cutler says. "Arlo Kaldicay, Lieutenant of the Watch, detective assigned to this case," Kaldicay says, taking another drag. "Give us a brief explanation of the events that occurred Wednesday night," Cutler says. "Well, we showed up there around 2:30 in response to a call at 2:08. There, we found Mr. Wess lying facedown on the ground. He was stabbed through the neck, and had blunt force trauma around the face. The murder weapon, a sword engraved with the initials D.O., was found in a nearby trash bin, along with a scrap of fabric from Mr. Onassè's shirt." "No further questions," Cutler says. The judge nods. "Mr. Equitem, would you like to cross-examine the witness?" "Eq!" Anna says from beside you. "Do you know how to cross-examine?"

Yep! That's your closing statement!
"Remember, Eq!" Anna says, "This is the last witness Mr. Cutler will present before he closes. We have to find something here! Remember, she's lying. She claims to have seen Mr. Onassè kill the victim. If you trust Mr. Onassè, you know that must be a lie!" "Witness, what did you see on Wednesday night pertaining to Mr. Cillian Wess's death?" Cutler asks. Ms. Kitt looks upward, as if thinking. "Well, I went out for a stroll around 1:30 at night. When I was passing by Mr. Wess' house, I saw Cillian standing on his deck. I continued walking, looking up a few moments later to see a figure pull out a sword and stab Mr. Wess through the back of the neck. I gasped and went to the ground, hoping to remain unseen by the killer. I crawled until I was out of sight, than ran to the nearest guard I could find." "And could you recognize the killer's face?" Cutler asks. "I could indeed." Ms. Kitt says with a smile. "Could you point him out to us?" Cutler asks. "Yes, it was him!" she points directly to Mr. Onassè. "No further questions," Cutler says. The judge nods. "Mr. Equitem, you may cross-examine." "Eq!" Anna says. "Remember, you have to find contradictions in her testimony. There may be contradictory evidence or testimony that was presented earlier in the trial."

Sure! "Capital verdict" means the death penalty. In the beginning of the trial, the judge asks what your plea is. There are generally four pleas: not guilty, guilty, not guilty by reason of insanity, and justified self-defense. Cutler is saying that if you plead guilty, he'll pursue the "verdict" (ruling) of life in prison instead of the death penalty.
Cutler looks at you intently. "This is your only chance to save your client's life. Are you sure?"

  • Cutler remains stern. "I'm afraid I cannot help you, then." He turns back to the prosecutor's stand. "Cmon," Anna says, walking toward the stand opposite of Cutler's.

  • You and Anna take your place behind the defense stand. After a few minutes, an older black man in a robe ascends to the judge's desk. "Please rise for the honorable Judge Melger," the bailiff says. Everyone in the audience promptly stands up and quiets. "You may be seated," the judge says, returning the audience to their chairs. "This commences the trial of Desmond Onassè for the murder of Cillian Wess. Is the prosecution ready?" Cutler gives a brief nod. "Is the defense ready?"

  • "Your opening statement, Mr. Cutler," the judge says. Cutler nods and looks to the audience. "Ladies and Gentlemen, a great tragedy has occurred in this fine city. On Wednesday night, your fearless leader, Mr. Cillian Wess, was stabbed by a coward. That coward was none other than the defendant, Mr. Onassè! This is a fact. Both decisive evidence and a witness prove this far beyond a reasonable doubt. This trial's outcome will be one of justice. There is nothing more that needs to be said." The judge nods. "Mr. Equitem, your statement."

  • "Ah, okay!" Anna says with a smile. "In the cross-examination part of the trial, you can delve further into the witness's testimony or ask him questions pertaining to the case. Your goal is to learn more about the case for future use, or find contradictions in his testimony! It's pretty easy! Do ya got it?"

"We first scanned the area in general, finding all the evidence and the body. Once we identified the culprit, I journeyed to the known location of the only "D.O" in town, Mr. Desmond Onassè, with a small team of Cebulan officers. That's when I met you, Mr. Equitem, and arrested Mr. Onassè."

"Well, there wasn't much to see," Kaldicay says. "It was really just the blood beneath the body and the evidence. We didn't check under the deck or anything, so I guess something could've slipped underne-" "Objection, your honor!" Cutler suddenly says, cutting Kaldicay off. "The witness should not speculate in his testimony. His opinion of things doesn't matter in a court of unbiased fact!" Do you let the objection go, or act against it? "If you think the objection is fair, let it go," Anna says. "If you disagree, strike a dissent and call out against it!"
