• This deeply saddens me... Marty has been literally 50% of why Bungie games are amazing... his soundtracks are forever etched in the minds of those who fell in love with Bungie in the days for Myth 2 and Halo CE... We truly love you Marty, and this company will NEVER be the same without you my friend. Part of my love for Bungie, was the close-knit friendship that all of the "grizzled ancients" seemed to share... where is that friendship now? Did money get in the way? I just don't understand. Will his music be in Destiny now? I can only hope, but ultimately may have to resort you playing Halo CE and finding his hidden musical Easter eggs... the Myth 2 soundtrack "secret song" from Assault on the Control Room is one of the best, and you'll need a Banshee to get there. Thanks, and God bless ya Marty!

    • I don't get it, Martin is part of the pack. He has been with us for so long, he has given us the other piece of the puzzle. He has provided a piece of the core of the components that was needed to make Halo great. And that will be needed to make Destiny great. His music is legendary and is considered some of the best pieces in gaming history. Without him you are broken, you are not a developer, you are not a family. As fans we deserve to know what happened, and as fans we know you keep your promises.

    • I will never forget how powerful your music was and still is. Marty isn't someone you can replace. Looks like we have an oligarchy on our hands. The small few now have the power.

      • I'm absolutely sure that whoever was on the project with him picked up a butt tonne of his tips, talents, and techniques. all of you who are crying about this make me sad. Some things need to end so new things can start, and hey, who knows.. That new start could be 20x better than Marty. You never know until you give that terd nugget a chance..

        • Hopefully, an answer as to why Marty was "terminated" from Bungie will be given, but it better be a good one!

        • Without Marty, Destiny, through out its lifespan, will forever be missing out on a element of the game that could have been "better". Music transcends more than just the notes that grace your ears. It emphasizes on the environment that it is played in. Marty was a musical genius and his scores have taken to many of us and become a notable part of our lives. He will be sorely missed and I hope Bungie, along with Activision, can find a way to bring him back.

          • Everybody who is freaking out about this news still needs to calm down. It doe snot mean the game isn't going to be any good anymore. Marty O'Donnell likely did something that gave the Bungie BOARD OF DIRECTORS good reason to fire him, but he doesn't believe it was good cause, hence why he announced his termination in that fashion. If Bungie fired him with no probable cause, then a huge lawsuit would likely follow because that's illegal. Worst case scenario is that the music to the rest of the Destiny franchise will not be as good as before. Best case scenario is that Marty's partner Michael Salvatori is more of a musical genius than we thought.

                • Why can't people let this be? Let it go people. Do you really want to know the reason? What if the reason is bad for Marty? do you really want to have that perception change? And if you REALLY hate Bungie, then go someplace else and support someone else. This is just getting out of hand.

                  • I knew that there is a huge love of game soundtracks out there but it still amazes me the reactions to this post. I'm very impressed by the amount of fan concern about how Marty's doing now that he's in that weird space between jobs. I will still be playing Destiny, and unless I find a reason to dislike their games, I will continue to play Bungie games. I am going to appreciate the past Halo games even more though, now, since like many people on here hearing the menu music of Halo: CE was a defining moment in my life. It has literally helped shape my career interests, my development of my artistic talents, what I read, what movies I watch, etc. So, that being said, I'm interested in finding out where Marty goes next, but I trust that Bungie will still make excellent games.

                  • And this is why mapping out a decade of games to-order is a bad idea.
"Destiny will consist of a series of four MMO-style "sci-fantasy action shooter" titles, released every other year beginning in Fall 2013" -- Bungie-Activision Contract
Once enough story and audio is stockpiled (as such domains can be), much of the soul of the company is no longer necessary (see end of dream team: the departure of Staten and the termination of O'Donnell). I enjoyed the last decade of Halo, but it became apparent with Reach (a contractually obligated title) that Bungie had lost its passion for Halo. I fear that this loss of passion will happen far sooner with Destiny. Creativity should not be constrained by a contract, but should be allowed to develop with time. I am really saddened by what I see as the consequences of an assembly-line process to gamemaking.
