Heres the issue with global warming.
1.) it gets damn hot.
2.) ice melts.
3.) higher water levels means less surface to absorb heat.
4.) less heat builds up and it gets cold again.
The cycle then repeats.

Only ocean water is darker compared to ice and as such absorbs more heat compared to the ice reflecting it.

The ice builds though a majority of it is underwater. In fact if I remember correctly 70% of the worlds artic ice is under water. And ice can conserve heat surprisingly well. Look at the eskimos.
