Why Saints Row IV is better than GTAV

Why? Well lets do a comparison, a full break down shall we? 1. Gunplay Both GTA V and Saints Row 4 involve shooting stuff. Shooting untill they're all dead. When it comes down to the basical gun mechanics, I feel that GTAV's lock on system with LT works better than Saint Row 4, and this system combined with the cover system present makes GTAV's gun play better than that of SR4, though that does not mean SR4's shooting is bad by any means. However, I have to point out that SR4 has alot more variety in the guns available, including black hole guns and dubstep guns 2. Vehicle gameplay Each game has also driving as a core mechanic of each game (Well...) and so how well the driving is, is very important. I think Saint Row 4's vehicle gameplay is alot better for several reasons. Firstly, the cars control much better in Saints Row 4, in GTAV it took time to master being able to get around -blam!-ing corners with constant breaking, and was only really fun when you're franklin. Secondly, let's look at air vehicles. Again, Saints Row 4 does this much better. Not only are the helicopters in GTAV just annoying, the jets aren't that much better either with it being rather difficult to turn at first. Saints Row 4's helicopter work like a charm, and the flying vehicles work a little like harriers, hover mode and jet mode, both of which work beautifully. 3. World GTAV's world is alot bigger, alot more varied and new. Saints Row 4's world is an edited steelport, clearly this goes to GTAV 4. Customization A part of both games is the customisation of your character and your vehicle. In GTAV, you can't customise how your character looks in any way, but you can chose what he wears, and his hair, so I guess that counts for something. You can also improve your vehicle with different rims, spoilers, roofs, windows and colours. You can customise your character in GTA Online, but I think we all know this is complete shit. In Saints Row IV you can massively change how your character looks with different facial features, body shape, gender, details down to penis/breast size. And when it comes to car customisation, there's simply alot more to it. You can do everything GTAV can do with car customisation and more, including interior colour and colour of the underglow of the car. Saints Row IV wins this round 5. Online GTAO online, in my opinion, was a disappointment. The freeroam is lack luster, no where as much things to do as advertised, and the customisation of your character is atrcious. Saints Row IV, however, has a different take for online. There's no competitive game modes, there's simply Co-op mode. And while this is a blast, if you prefer competetive gameplay you'll prefer GTAV. 6. Special Both games have unique aspects to their game. In GTA you can switch your character, all of which have their own abilites. However, I feel Michael's ability is worthless, as I never used it. However, Franklin's ability and Trevor's ability are very useful as they make the game easier, but not necessarily more fun. Saints Row IV also has an entirely new forumla, super powers. These Super Powers include Super Speed, super jump, death from above, a force field when sprinting, fire, blasts, telekenises and stomp. The final four have variations in the type of element you can use, for example the blast has the ability to use ice, fire or mind control. These super powers change up how the game plays massively from SR3. Not only is it alot easier to get around (With sprint you can run up walls and across water, though it makes cars rather pointless) but it adds variety to the fighting. You can shoot them all, or you can freeze them, stomp them, burn them, freeze them or get them to fight for you. I've got to give this part to SR4 7. Story I left this part to late because of how different the stories are. GTAV tells a serious story. It may parody the real world but the story between Franklin, Trevor and Michael is a serious one Rockstar are telling. Saints Row on the over hand is a parody of alot of things. The Matrix, Mass effect, even 1950's sitcoms. It's impossible to compare 8. Music Both games only really have radio stations for their music, not really their own OSTs (if they do they're not rememerable) and for both games, I only listen to one radio station, the other's are terrible. But if I had to count the number of songs I like from each game, well then SR4 wins by a small margin So overall, SR4 wins 5-2 in this comparison.

  • This was a good breakdown, but to be honest, they're not really comparable. I enjoyed both of them greatly though.

  •
Not only are the helicopters in GTAV just annoying, the jets aren't that much better either with it being rather difficult to turn at first.
So true. In GTA San Andreas the helicopters and airplane/jets are easy to fly. After 5-10 minutes you can fly them like a pro. Then it just went downhill from there. The helicopters in GTA 4 and GTA 5 are just shit. Instead of getting the hang of them in minutes you actually have to spend time on them like getting used to a car in real life. In SA I'm able to get the attack hilcopter and I can kill vehicles easily. I'm able to turn around and hit them without crashing. In GTA 4/5 I can't turn while pointing down to fire without crashing. The only way I can hit things without crashing is going straight at a target. In GTA 5 I can fly the planes/jets OK.
5. Online
Oh god the online for GTA 5 is disappointing as fuck. You have limited control over it. In GTA 4 you can set the traffic and turn cops off. Having them on kills the fun of it if you just want to dick around with your friends. If you have a shot out and get a wanted level you have to stop what you're doing and get out of the area. And if you loose it you still have cops in that area which results in you guys going to a different location. Then there's everybody having the same color icon. It doesn't matter if friends/crew have a highlight. It still doesn't help you when they're all the same color. In GTA 4 it's nice having everybody being a different color so you know who's who. There's the rank system which kills it. If you want to get better weapons you have to be a high level. If you're a low level you're going to get destroyed. Then there's the customizing. You have shit at low levels and the prices are way too high. So basically if you want the fill online you have to treat it like a 2nd job. Hell with the time it would take to get everything online it has to be your main job. Then there's the character shit. You have to treat your character like an RPG character. If you want him to have better running and driving skills you have to improve them. It takes the fun out of the online when your character is limited. They completely killed dicking around in this online.

  • Given how terrible GTAV is I may buy Saints Row 3

      • As someone who enjoyed both games, they are pretty impossible to compare at this point. They're good for different reasons in my opinion. And I can't agree with your vehicle comparison. Vehicles are, and always have been, awful in the Saints Row series.

        • But in SR4 cars are irrelevant. You're a -blam!-ing superhero. At least in GTA V I have a reason to drive what I spent $500K on.
